The Sous Chef role at Grand Living is crucial in supporting the culinary vision of the Executive Chef by providing leadership, culinary expertise, and training to the kitchen team. This position oversees the preparation and coordination of meals across multiple dining areas and special events, ensuring quality and presentation meet the elevated standards expected by residents. The Sous Chef's responsibility includes upholding The Sterling Touch professional standards, characterized by friendliness, courtesy, helpfulness, and timeliness, which facilitates a memorable dining experience for both residents and their guests. This full-time role requires a flexible schedule with open availability including weekends, reflecting the dynamic nature of senior living hospitality. The Sous Chef works under the direction of the Executive Chef and adheres to community standards, processes, and philosophies, contributing significantly to the overall resident satisfaction. Job Requirements
- college or culinary school degree required
- combination of education and experience equivalent to culinary school graduation
- minimum three years experience in relevant food service environments
- must have scratch cooking skills
- ability to read, write, and understand English
- manual dexterity for kitchen equipment use
- physical ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and carry up to 50 pounds
- ability to work in varying temperature conditions
Job Qualifications
- college or culinary school degree
- three or more years of experience in food and beverage, country club, fine dining, restaurant, or senior living hospitality
- experience with scratch cooking
- preferred experience with sauté and broiler cooking
- preferred ServeSafe certification
- strong English communication skills
- ability to manage and train kitchen staff
