We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sous Chef at Restaura, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality of food service is consistently met. Your responsibilities will include preparing ingredients and cooking meals according to specific recipes and production guidelines while strictly adhering to food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures. The Sous Chef position requires proficiency with culinary equipment including knives, grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers, as well as the ability to supervise or delegate responsibilities effectively in the absence of the Executive Chef. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking experience required
  • Food safety certification or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs
  • Positive attitude and teamwork orientation

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a supervisor in a related role preferred
  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Proven knowledge of basic principles of food preparation, cooking methods, and food safety regulations
  • Must be able to obtain food safety certification
  • Demonstrates basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 25 lbs
  • ServSafe Certified
  • Culinary training or degree

Job Duties

  • Know and understand Restaura's Culinary Standards and Commitments
  • Schedule and assign daily work assignments to a culinary brigade and oversee the completion of tasks
  • Train and guide staff on job duties, proper food safety and sanitation procedures, cooking methods
  • Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and the recipe collection
  • Maintain excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers
  • Train culinary brigade on proper preparation of ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely utilize a variety of utensils including knives
  • Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers
  • Ensure daily communication between shifts regarding cooking times and prep needed
  • Communicate any issues affecting service before and after meals
  • Demonstrate appropriate baking, roasting, broiling, steaming procedures and various cooking methods
  • Ensure culinary team uses recipe collection for ranges, garnishes, and portioning
  • Properly store food adhering to food safety policies
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Adhere to Restaura’s safety policies including food safety and sanitation
  • Execute meal production timing and readiness
  • Expedite and maintain food production based on forecasted demand
  • Communicate with management to maintain expected food quality
  • Understand food labeling procedures and ensure correct labeling and storage
  • Prepare food according to guidelines and recipes
  • Ensure servers understand correct portions
  • Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary workstations and equipment
  • Operate all kitchen equipment safely
  • Manage production results of meals
  • Report safety hazards to managers
  • Direct culinary team, monitor performance, and provide feedback
  • Consult with management about staff relations and scheduling
