Job Description
San Diego Mission Bay Resort is a sprawling 357-room luxury resort located in the heart of Southern California, offering breathtaking views of Mission Bay along with an array of amenities designed to create an unforgettable guest experience. The resort features multiple dining venues, including four distinct restaurants that cater to varied culinary tastes and preferences. Guests can enjoy vibrant Mexican flavors poolside at Solrisa, indulge in craft cocktails and shareable small plates at Plaza Del Sol surrounded by swaying palm trees, savor the intimate indoor/outdoor ambiance and local bounty at Covewood, or start their day with a local favorite acai bowl and cappuccino at Mission Joe. This diverse culinary environment presents not only a feast for the palate but also an opportunity to be part of a dynamic hospitality team that values quality, innovation, and guest satisfaction.
In addition to exceptional dining, the resort boasts a beautiful pool area, kid-friendly pool, fire pits, and stunning natural landscapes, making it the quintessential Southern California escape. Beyond leisure, the resort is a preferred venue for banquets and catering services, hosting everything from intimate waterfront weddings to large-scale corporate events with capacity for over 500 attendees. This wide range of operations calls for culinary leadership that can uphold high standards and deliver memorable gastronomic experiences consistently.
We are excited to welcome a Sous Chef to join our Mission Bay family. The Sous Chef role is a pivotal position within our culinary team, working closely with the Executive Chef to plan, prepare, and execute top-tier meals across all culinary outlets within the resort. This opportunity involves hands-on supervision and training of kitchen staff, managing day-to-day kitchen operations including inventory control and cost management, and ensuring compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for culinary arts, leadership in kitchen management, and a dedication to quality and innovation.
This full-time position offers an annual salary range of $72,000 to $75,000, inclusive of base wages, incentives, and fringe benefits, with eligibility for a bonus incentive payout of 0% to 33% based on performance and plan terms. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and will be an integral part of creating culinary experiences that delight both guests and team members alike. The resort culture fosters a supportive, team-oriented atmosphere with a 'can do' attitude and a spirit of collaboration and continuous learning.
