The role of Sous Chef (Unit Chef) at Elior Independent School Dining is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated culinary professional. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Hamburg, Pennsylvania. The role involves acting as a floating chef, which means the individual will have the unique opportunity to work across various locations, supervising and actively participating in meal preparation and culinary service. The main responsibility of this position is to plan, organize, and oversee culinary operations for both retail and catering services.

As a Sous Chef within this dynamic environment, you will be expected to plan menus that integrate current market trends, customer preferences, and nutritional needs. This requires creativity, strategic planning, and collaboration with district managers and other departments to ensure smooth daily operations in dining services. Leadership is a critical aspect of this job, as you will be directing and coordinating kitchen staff to ensure high quality and timely food preparation. In addition to the primary duties, the role includes various other tasks assigned to meet the needs of the dining service efficiently.

The compensation for this role is competitive, with an hourly wage starting at $19.50, reflecting the skill level and responsibility required. Elior Independent School Dining offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage for full-time employees. Additional voluntary benefits such as accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity insurance are offered through UNUM. Employees also enjoy access to a discount program, commuter benefits for parking and transit, an employee assistance program (EAP), 401(k) retirement plan, paid sick time, holiday pay including nine paid holidays, tuition reimbursement for full-time employees, and paid time off.

This role is ideal for culinary professionals who have a passion for education and community-focused dining services, looking for a meaningful and challenging opportunity to grow their culinary management career. The role supports a healthy work-life balance combined with the chance to influence student dining positively and contribute to the overall school experience.
