Job Description

Ascent Hospitality is a renowned hospitality company managing an extensive portfolio of hotels with a solid pipeline of new properties and acquisitions. Unlike many organizations that focus primarily on growth numbers, Ascent Hospitality places great emphasis on the people who form the backbone of their operations. The company’s firm foundation is built upon its commitment to creating memorable experiences not only for their guests but also for all team members. This dedication to culture is reflected in a collaborative work environment where teamwork and unified purpose are encouraged and celebrated. Ascent Hospitality looks for exceptional leaders who share a passion for serving others, demonstrating strong communication skills, understanding customer needs, and thriving in dynamic and challenging environments. This inclusive and positive culture promotes growth, innovation, and career satisfaction within the hospitality industry.

Ascent Hospitality is currently seeking a uniquely qualified Junior Sous Chef to join their leadership team. This role is fundamental to the success of kitchen operations and works closely alongside the Head Chef to manage daily kitchen activities, including staff supervision, menu preparation assistance, food quality assurance, inventory monitoring, ordering, and stock control. The Junior Sous Chef is responsible for delivering high-quality and cost-effective dishes while being creative and service-oriented. This is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals who excel in a fast-paced environment and aspire to progress their careers within a company that values development and excellence.

The Junior Sous Chef must have strong organizational skills and the ability to lead the kitchen team efficiently. In addition to monitoring food preparation and presentation, this role ensures compliance with health and safety standards and oversees inventory control using first-in, first-out food rotation systems to maintain freshness and quality. Training and onboarding new kitchen employees to meet company standards also fall under the Junior Sous Chef’s responsibilities. The ideal candidate should be adept at maintaining kitchen infrastructure, managing food and product ordering to minimize waste, and ensuring that all kitchen areas meet organizational standards at all times.

Working in this role requires hands-on involvement with kitchen equipment and utensils while upholding a neat and professional appearance that reflects the company's ethos. This role demands excellent communication abilities in English to collaborate effectively with team members and interact with guests when needed. Flexibility to work various shifts, including holidays, is essential for covering operational needs. The position demands physical stamina as it involves standing for long periods on hard surfaces, handling kitchen tools, and lifting items over 25 pounds consistently.

Ascent Hospitality offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits that include health, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as other supplemental options. Employees have access to a 401k plan with employer matching, paid time off, uniforms provided for most positions, and a hotel discount program exclusive to team members. These offerings reflect Ascent Hospitality's commitment to fostering a supportive and rewarding work environment. Joining Ascent Hospitality as a Junior Sous Chef means becoming part of a team passionate about delivering exceptional dining experiences and advancing hospitality careers in a thriving and supportive setting.
