Job Description
Glenmoor Country Club is a premier private club located in the picturesque Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, just minutes from major transportation routes like Belleview and I-25. Renowned for its exceptional hospitality, vibrant member events, and top-tier cuisine, Glenmoor has established itself as one of Denver's most prestigious private clubs. The club prides itself on offering a unique culinary environment that fosters growth and development for its team members, allowing culinary professionals to enhance their skills while collaborating with a passionate and highly skilled kitchen staff. The club's commitment to excellence is reflected not only in the quality of food but also in the comprehensive member experience, making it a sought-after destination for both dining and social activities.
The Sous Chef role at Glenmoor Country Club is a vital leadership position within the culinary department, reporting directly to the Executive Chef. The position is ideal for an experienced kitchen leader who possesses a strong culinary background, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is dedicated to mentoring and developing culinary staff while upholding the highest culinary standards. With an annual salary range of $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience, this role offers a competitive compensation package for professionals eager to grow their careers at a prestigious establishment.
As the first assistant to the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef, the Sous Chef plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily kitchen operations across all dining outlets, banquets, and special events hosted at Glenmoor. This requires a hands-on approach to leadership—engaging directly with culinary staff, supervising food production, and ensuring consistent quality and presentation in every dish. The position demands adaptability and resilience, especially during a period of clubhouse renovation where kitchen operations will be managed through a mobile kitchen trailer. This dynamic setup calls for flexibility and a team-first attitude to maintain smooth and efficient kitchen work under unique circumstances.
The Sous Chef will also be instrumental in staffing functions such as hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and managing performance, ensuring that the team operates cohesively and efficiently. Key responsibilities include maintaining strict sanitation and food safety standards, overseeing inventory and purchasing practices, and collaborating with front-of-house leadership to guarantee a seamless and exceptional member dining experience. Proficiency in kitchen equipment maintenance and operational management is necessary to uphold Glenmoor's high-quality standards.
This role is structured to support long-term kitchen leadership, with the opportunity for continued employment throughout the year based on performance and business requirements. The schedule typically requires approximately 50 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the demands of a busy private club environment. Glenmoor operates on a non-tipping basis, compensating team members through hourly wages rather than gratuities, creating a stable and equitable pay structure for culinary staff.
Physical demands of the job include the ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry materials weighing up to 40-50 pounds, and work effectively in a fast-moving, heat-intensive kitchen environment. Joining Glenmoor Country Club means working in one of Denver's most beautiful private club settings, contributing to a respected culinary team, and advancing one's culinary leadership career in a supportive and enriching atmosphere. This role offers not only a chance to showcase culinary expertise but also to develop leadership capabilities in a prestigious and dynamic culinary setting. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply and become part of Glenmoor's culinary legacy, where commitment to quality and member satisfaction are paramount.
