Job Description
The View is New York City’s only revolving restaurant, bar, and lounge, offering a unique dining and entertainment experience that captures the dynamic spirit of the city. Operated by Danny Meyer’s renowned Union Square Hospitality Group since 2025, The View underwent a complete renovation by the Rockwell Group to create a space that evokes the vibrant nightlife of historic New York, drawing inspiration from classic American supper clubs. Located in the heart of the theater district, the restaurant spans two floors, providing guests with stunning panoramic skyline views while enjoying live music, classic American cuisine, and the theatrical energy of the surroundings. This combination of culinary excellence and immersive ambiance makes The View a distinctive and sought-after destination for both locals and visitors alike.
As a Sous Chef at The View, you will play an essential role in upholding the restaurant’s high standards of culinary quality and service. Working closely with the Executive Chef, you will oversee the daily kitchen operations to ensure that all preparations and menu executions meet the establishment’s commitment to excellence. This position involves managing the back-of-house team, including Line Cooks, Prep Cooks, and all hourly kitchen staff, with a focus on consistent feedback, career development, and performance objectives. The Sous Chef is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and health code-compliant kitchen and fostering a positive and collaborative relationship with the dining room leadership and service staff. The role demands not only culinary expertise but also leadership skills, effective communication, and a dedication to delivering an outstanding hospitality experience.
The compensation for this full-time position ranges from $75,000 to $80,000 annually, with eligibility for a performance-based bonus reflecting your experience and impact. The View and Union Square Hospitality Group prioritize a supportive and enriching work environment, offering comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance; generous paid time off including paid parental leave; a matched 401(k) plan; life insurance; employee assistance programs; and wellness services. Additional perks include dining credits and discounts across the Union Square Hospitality restaurant family, commuter benefits, and opportunities for professional growth through mentorship and collaboration. At The View, you will be part of a team that thrives on what Union Square Hospitality Group calls Enlightened Hospitality — a culture rooted in care, creativity, personal development, and the belief that people are the group’s greatest ingredient.
