Job Description

Mother Wolf is a distinguished restaurant located in Miami, Florida, renowned for its homage to the rich culinary traditions of Rome. Nestled at 3841 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33137, Mother Wolf captures the essence of Roman gastronomy with an emphasis on hyper-seasonal antipasti, wafer-thin wood-fired pizzas, and exceptional pastas inspired by Chef Evan Funke's renowned Roman-inspired cuisine. The restaurant's atmosphere is deeply rooted in Rome's mythological origins, celebrating the legend of Remus, Romulus, and the Lupa Capitolina, and weaving themes of shepherds, popes, farmers, and artisans throughout its dining experience. This creates a unique and soulful environment that appeals to patrons seeking authentic Roman flavors and culinary excellence.

The role of Sommelier at Mother Wolf is pivotal in enhancing the dining experience through expert beverage service, focusing predominantly on wine sales and service. This position offers a competitive hourly wage of $20.00 and is perfect for an individual passionate about fine wines and exceptional guest interactions within a high-end restaurant setting. The Sommelier is entrusted with the responsibility of not only serving but also elevating the guest experience through knowledgeable wine pairings and attentive service. Candidates for this position are expected to possess a blend of wine expertise, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine enthusiasm for hospitality.

Within this role, the Sommelier will actively engage with guests by providing personalized recommendations tailored to complement their meal choices and tastes. The Sommelier plays a critical role in the restaurant's salesmanship, working closely with the team to create memorable dining moments. Responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, maintaining wine service excellence, and ensuring all wines are served at optimal temperatures and in appropriate glassware. The individual must be adept at decanting wines, conducting quality checks before serving, and managing inventory control with precision.

This position also demands a hands-on approach in maintaining the ambiance and operational flow on the restaurant floor. The Sommelier will be responsible for marking tables with wine glasses, noting food and drink orders accurately, and maintaining pour levels throughout service. Effective coordination with fellow staff to ensure timely drink service and smooth operations is essential. The Sommelier will also partake in bi-weekly wine inventory assessments and assist with wine ordering in collaboration with management, ensuring the beverage offerings remain distinctive and well-stocked.

Physical stamina and mobility are important for this role, as the Sommelier must be able to stand for extended periods, carry trays and cases of wine, and perform various tasks involving bending, stooping, and stretching. Flexibility is critical as the role requires availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the demands of the restaurant’s busy schedule.

Candidates interested in joining Mother Wolf’s dedicated team should be eager to contribute positively to a collaborative work environment while demonstrating professionalism and a customer-focused mindset. This opportunity not only offers a chance to work with a dynamic team in a celebrated dining establishment but also to deepen expertise in wine service and hospitality within an innovative and culturally rich culinary setting. Overall, the Sommelier will be a vital ambassador of the Mother Wolf brand, embodying the restaurant’s dedication to quality, tradition, and memorable guest experiences.
