We are currently seeking a dedicated, experienced Sommelier to join our dynamic team. This full-time position plays a pivotal role in shaping the overall guest experience by offering expert wine knowledge combined with gracious hospitality and meticulous attention to detail. The Sommelier will act as the ambassador of our wine program, skillfully guiding guests through the wine list with confident storytelling and tailored pairing recommendations that complement individual preferences and the menu. The ideal candidate will be a consummate professional with a strong presence on the floor, capable of building rapport and elevating the dining experience through warm and anticipatory service.

As a Sommelier here, you will collaborate closely with our culinary team to develop and refine wine pairings that harmonize seamlessly with the flavors of our evolving menu. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of wine service including presentation, timing, and storage. Your role will also include supporting cellar organization, inventory management, and adhering strictly to wine handling and food safety protocols. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in fine dining wine service or sommelier role
  • Strong knowledge of wines, including regions, varietals, and vintages
  • Excellent communication and guest engagement skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Experience operating POS systems
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and cellar management
  • Must be able to relocate to Santa Barbara, CA 93108 before starting work
  • Ability to commute to the work location in Santa Barbara, CA
  • Willingness to work full-time with flexible scheduling

Job Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in wine knowledge and fine dining service
  • Proven ability to engage guests and elevate their dining experience
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both with guests and internal teams
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
  • Experience with POS systems
  • Understanding of food safety, cellar standards, and wine handling best practices
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with chefs, servers, and management
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Wine certifications or formal wine education are a plus
  • Bartending or additional beverage experience is a plus

Job Duties

  • Provide thoughtful, polished wine service to guests, including pairing recommendations and guidance tailored to individual preferences
  • Maintain expert knowledge of the wine list, including regions, producers, varietals, styles, and vintages
  • Execute all wine service with exceptional attention to detail, presentation, and timing
  • Collaborate closely with the culinary team to develop and refine wine pairings that complement the menu
  • Support cellar organization, inventory accuracy, storage standards, and wine handling protocols
  • Assist in the execution of wine programs, tastings, and special events
  • Uphold food safety standards and proper wine service practices at all times
  • Operate the POS system accurately, including processing payments and closing checks
  • Build rapport with guests through warm, confident, and anticipatory service
  • Represent the restaurant with professionalism, discretion, and pride on the dining room floor
