We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Sommelier to elevate our wine program and join our esteemed team at ATLAS Restaurant. This role is ideal for candidates dedicated to the art and science of wine, eager to contribute their expertise within a Michelin-starred environment. The successful Sommelier will take a central role in crafting and maintaining an exceptional wine list that harmonizes with our chef's menu, ensuring guests enjoy remarkable wine pairings. Responsibilities include advising guests on wine selections tailored to their tastes and food choices, maintaining optimal wine serving standards, and managing the wine cellar. This position offers the unique opportunity to collaborate with world-class culinary and beverage teams, engage with winemakers, and participate in special events such as wine tastings and featured wine promotions.

The Sommelier at ATLAS will play a vital role in maintaining the restaurant's high standards of service and quality. This includes supervising wine serving techniques, ensuring wines are stored and presented correctly, and conducting staff training on wine knowledge. The candidate will also be responsible for vendor negotiations to secure the best wine selections at competitive prices, contributing to the overall operational success of the wine program. Job Requirements

  • High school education
  • Prior experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess or similar role
  • Experience using a Point of Sale (POS) system
  • Sommelier certification preferred
  • Must meet local, legal minimum age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Coordination skills to properly pour and carry several drinks and plates at the same time
  • Extensive knowledge of different wines and the winemaking process

Job Duties

  • Create and update the wine list in coordination with chefs and the Food and Beverage Manager
  • Recommend food and wine pairings
  • Advise guests on wines based on their personal tastes and food choices
  • Inform guests about different varieties of wines and prices
  • Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glassware
  • Store open bottles properly to maintain strong taste
  • Manage wine cellar and ensure it’s fully-stocked
  • Train wait staff on available wines
  • Negotiate purchase prices with vendors
  • Organize wine tasting days or wine of the month events
  • Ask guests for ID to verify legal drinking age
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations
