Teledyne Cable Solutions, a division of Teledyne Technologies, is currently seeking a dedicated Solder Assembly Technician to join their team in Dallas, TX. This role is crucial in ensuring high-reliability cable and connector solutions that are essential for demanding applications across multiple industries. The technician plays a hands-on role, performing delicate soldering tasks that directly impact the safety, reliability, and long-term performance of the products. As a Solder Assembly Technician, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing fine hand soldering of connectors, splices, sockets, and cable assemblies using magnification tools. They will build assemblies based on detailed production drawings, work instructions, and bills of materials while applying rigorous workmanship standards throughout the electro-mechanical assembly process. The role requires using both hand and power tools for fitting, assembling, and preparing components, inspecting assemblies, and conducting basic in-process testing to verify quality specifications.

Attention to detail, strong manual dexterity, and the ability to read and follow detailed drawings and instructions are imperative. The candidate must handle flammable and hazardous materials safely, comply with all safety procedures, and work a core day shift schedule with overtime opportunities. Certification such as J-STD-001 is required, with IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification being preferred. Candidates must have prior electro-mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing setting and exhibit English language proficiency for effective communication and documentation.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Five plus years of electro-mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior hand soldering experience
  • J-STD-001 certification (current or prior)
  • Ability to read and follow detailed drawings and written/verbal instructions
  • Ability to work the core schedule of 6:00am-2:45pm, Monday-Friday, with overtime as needed
  • English language proficiency for safety, quality documentation, and communication
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail for small-part soldering

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform fine hand soldering of connectors, splices, sockets, and cable assemblies using magnification
  • Build assemblies by following production drawings, work instructions, and bills of material
  • Apply accepted workmanship standards across electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Use hand and power tools to fit, assemble, and prepare components
  • Inspect assemblies and perform basic in-process testing to verify quality
  • Trim or adjust materials to meet required electrical and dimensional specifications
  • Handle any flammable and hazardous materials safely and in compliance with safety requirements
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment
  • Support cross-training across different assembly processes as needed
