Job Description

Starbucks Coffee Company is a globally recognized leader in the coffeehouse industry, known for crafting the world’s finest coffee and fostering a warm and welcoming community space. Established decades ago, Starbucks has revolutionized the coffee experience by prioritizing quality beverages, exceptional customer service, and creating meaningful moments for its customers. As a large multinational company, Starbucks operates thousands of stores worldwide, serving millions of customers daily with a focus on sustainable coffee sourcing and ethical business practices. Beyond just coffee, Starbucks is committed to being a positive force in the communities it serves and continuously innovates to support partners — the term Starbucks uses for its employees — through comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities. In addition to offering premium coffee and food products, Starbucks invests heavily in the professional development of its partners through leadership training and educational programs such as the Starbucks College Achievement Plan, which provides tuition coverage for a first-time bachelor’s degree.

The role of a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks is pivotal to ensuring that each coffeehouse delivers an outstanding customer experience while maintaining operational excellence. This position requires a passionate leader who leads with both craft and heart to create a welcoming environment where every customer interaction adds value and joy. Shift Supervisors are responsible for overseeing daily store operations, coaching and mentoring team members, and ensuring high-quality products are consistently delivered. This role demands someone who possesses strong interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities, and a keen understanding of retail operations. Shift Supervisors play an essential role in driving team performance by delegating tasks, coordinating workflows, and supporting partners to meet store standards regarding safety, cash handling, and customer service.

At Starbucks, being a Shift Supervisor goes beyond managing shifts; it is about fostering community connections and creating a positive work environment where all partners can thrive. The company offers industry-leading benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid parental leave, vacation accrual, disability plans, and volunteer insurance options. Additionally, Starbucks supports financial well-being through programs like 401(k) with employer match, stock purchase plans, and emergency savings incentives. Partners also benefit from educational assistance, including online degree programs and student loan management resources. Starbucks is dedicated to equity, diversity, and inclusion, offering equal employment opportunities regardless of race, gender, age, or other protected characteristics, and provides reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities.

As a Shift Supervisor, your leadership will be instrumental in building strong relationships among your team and the customers you serve, inspiring others through your example, and contributing to the overall success and reputation of your coffeehouse. This role requires flexibility in working hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays to ensure seamless store operations. Whether you are starting your career in retail leadership or looking to advance within Starbucks, this position offers a unique chance to grow personally and professionally in a vibrant and supportive environment.
