The Manager I (MGRI) role at HMSHost is pivotal in maintaining the smooth operation of quick service restaurants (QSR) or similar dining environments. This position acts as a vital link between the branch management team and frontline associates, playing a significant role in executing daily management tactics with precision and adherence to company policies. As a Manager I, you will ensure that the restaurant environment is impeccably clean, fully staffed, and operating to high operational standards. You will engage in various activities ranging from opening and closing procedures to handling cash transactions, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines.
In this dynamic and fast-paced role, Managers act as coaches, guiding and motivating the team to deliver excellent service while maintaining a positive and productive work atmosphere. You will be involved in the recruitment process by participating in interviews, making staffing recommendations, and supporting employee development through scheduling and work assignments. This leadership role requires a mix of hands-on operational skills and interpersonal abilities to foster teamwork and uphold customer satisfaction. The position typically reports to the General Manager or Director of Operations and requires flexibility to work varying shifts including openings, busy periods, and closings.

Job Requirements
- Ability to work shifts during various operating days and hours including openings, busy day parts, and closings
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local sanitary, safety, and health standards
- Compliance with HACCP standards
- Must be able to follow company policies and procedures
- Willingness to work a varied and rotating schedule
- Ability to supervise and manage staff
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle cash securely
- Must be non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years food and beverage experience
- Minimum 2 years cash handling experience
- Minimum 2 years customer service experience
- At least 6 months supervisory or lead experience in a restaurant or production kitchen
- Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions and policy documents
- Strong communication skills to converse comfortably with customers
- Familiarity with HACCP standards and safety protocols
Job Duties
- Complete opening, daily and closing procedures/checklists in accordance with company policies/procedures
- Assist AGM/GM in managing by supervising day-to-day activities of associates within a defined individual or group of restaurants or points-of-sale
- Participate in the interview process, provide input in hiring, recommend termination, advancement, promotion or any other status change to the GM for associates within the unit
- Assign work tasks and activities, participate in preparing schedules, and ensure that all shifts are covered
- Actively ensure all associates take mandated rest breaks and meal periods
- Ensure display areas are appropriately clean, stocked, and visually appealing
- Ensure all equipment is in good working order
- Operate cash register and void transactions as needed following HMSHost cash handling policies
- Monitor compliance with wellness and safety procedures, build awareness, and report safety concerns to the GM
- Perform Health and Safety activities as specified in the Manager’s Guide to Associate Health and Safety
- Place orders for individual units, receive goods, and process invoices
- Ensure current contact information for all associates is maintained
