The company’s success is attributed to its great people, strong teams, and a fun working atmosphere that energizes staff and ensures travelers enjoy their experience on the move.
The Manager I (MGRI) position at HMSHost is a vital role responsible for assisting branch management in the tactical execution of Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) or similar restaurant management operations. This position entails ensuring the restaurant is clean, fully staffed, visually appealing, and operating according to high operational standards and company policies. The Manager I executes opening, daily, and closing procedures, supervises day-to-day activities of restaurant associates, participates in the hiring process, and provides input on performance-related decisions such as termination, promotion, or advancement. Additionally, the Manager I oversees work schedules to ensure all shifts are adequately covered and makes sure associates take mandated rest breaks and meal periods.
Key responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and presentation of display areas, ensuring equipment is functional, operating the cash register in compliance with company cash handling policies, and monitoring adherence to safety and wellness procedures. The Manager I is also tasked with placing orders, receiving goods, processing invoices, and keeping associate contact information up to date. This position demands a hands-on approach with a strong understanding of health and safety regulations, including HACCP standards. Typically reporting to a General Manager, Director of Operations, or intermediate F&B Multi Unit Manager II, the role requires working varied and rotating schedules covering opening, busy peak times, and closing shifts.
The position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, highlighting its operational involvement and compliance with labor regulations. HMSHost seeks candidates with a minimum of two years of experience in food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service, along with at least six months of supervisory or leadership experience in a restaurant or production kitchen setting. Proficiency in communication, reading, and understanding instructions and policies, as well as engaging comfortably with customers, is essential.
With competitive hourly wages ranging from $19.69 to $24.07 and an inclusive company culture that embraces diversity and equal opportunity, HMSHost is committed to creating a safe and supportive workplace. The company prohibits discrimination and fosters a drug-free environment, reinforcing its dedication to employee well-being.
