Known for fostering a culture of engagement, HMSHost prioritizes behaviors that support success and cultivate an environment of appreciation, caring, and inclusion. Employees are encouraged to be the best versions of themselves with competitive wages, robust benefits, and recognition for exemplary work. HMSHost managers play a pivotal coaching role, guiding their teams to achieve exceptional results while fostering a fun and positive workplace atmosphere. They demonstrate a passion for hospitality, openness to diverse ideas and perspectives, and adaptability to the fast pace of the business, all while serving the needs of associates, guests, and other stakeholders. Manager-coaches at HMSHost are valued for their reliability, ethical conduct, and focus on creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and travelers experience great service.
The Manager I (MGRI) position at HMSHost is a vital leadership role within the quick service restaurant (QSR) or similar restaurant management operations. The MGRI supports branch management in the tactical execution of operational goals, ensuring the restaurant is clean, well-prepared for business, properly staffed, and operating to high standards. This non-exempt position involves a variety of responsibilities that include completing opening, daily, and closing procedures in line with company policies. The MGRI assists Assistant General Managers (AGM) or General Managers (GM) by supervising daily activities of restaurant associates across one or more units. The role entails active involvement in recruitment processes, providing input for hiring decisions, and recommending actions like terminations or promotions. Scheduling and work task assignments fall under the MGRI’s purview, along with ensuring compliance with mandated rest breaks and meal periods for all associates. Maintaining a clean, stocked, and visually appealing environment is critical, as is ensuring all equipment is operational. The MGRI also handles cash register operations and voids transactions while adhering strictly to HMSHost’s cash handling policies and security protocols.
Monitoring and promoting wellness and safety practices in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines is another important responsibility. The MGRI ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local sanitary, safety, and health standards, including HACCP protocols. They manage unit inventory by placing orders, receiving goods, and processing invoices. Communication is key in this role, as the MGRI maintains current contact information for all associates. This position demands flexibility in work hours, including shifts during various operating days, peak busy hours, and closing times, to effectively monitor staff and ensure smooth operations. To succeed as an MGRI at HMSHost, candidates typically require at least two years of experience in food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service, along with supervisory experience in a restaurant or production kitchen setting. Strong communication skills and leadership abilities are essential for managing associates and fostering a positive work environment. Working at HMSHost provides an enriching career opportunity in a dynamic hospitality environment dedicated to team growth, guest satisfaction, and workplace excellence.
