The Retail Team Member role plays a vital part in creating a welcoming, fun, and educational shopping experience for every guest. Members in this position are responsible for delivering excellent guest service, supporting store sales goals, and maintaining the overall appearance and organization of the store. The role requires interacting with guests promptly and friendly, expertly operating the Point-of-Sale (POS) system while managing transactions, discounts, and verifying age compliance for alcohol and tobacco sales. Team members maintain a Responsible Vendor status throughout employment, ensuring proper identification checks at all times.

In addition to customer service, the Retail Team Member is also involved in merchandising, restocking, and visually presenting products to optimize sales and meet store objectives. Responsibilities include receiving and organizing deliveries, keeping the sales floor and stockroom clean and orderly, and assisting with property upkeep both inside and outside the store. This role occasionally demands physical activity such as lifting up to 40 pounds, bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods, which are essential for stocking and presenting merchandise effectively.

Retail Team Members are also expected to engage in community values by supporting company missions that enrich lives and foster growth. The position requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays according to business needs. Job Requirements

Must be 21 years of age or older
ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs demand
maintain regular and predictable onsite attendance
ability to stand and move about for up to 8 hours or more
ability to bend, lift, and twist frequently
ability to lift or transport up to 40 lbs
occasional overhead lifting
occasional use of ladders and step stools
ability to visually inspect product labels, signage, and displays frequently
able to detect and respond to visual cues
occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions
occasional exposure to cleaning solution fumes
occasional exposure to refrigerated temperatures
capable of working in a moderate noise level environment
no prior retail experience required

strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

Greet each guest upon entry and provide prompt, friendly, and engaging service throughout their visit
operate Point-of-Sale (POS) system accurately, including processing transactions, applying discounts or promotions, verifying rewards accounts, validating product selections, ensuring legal compliance with age verification, and following proper cash handling procedures
maintain responsible vendor status throughout employment for alcohol and tobacco purchases while operating POS, wine taps or tasting tables by checking proper forms of identification for age verification
learn and promote ABC's wide selection of wine, spirits, beer, and cigars, including sourced and certified products
assist with merchandising, restocking, and visual presentation of product on shelves and within beer coolers
increase sales and product performance to meet store goals
receive, unload, and validate invoices, organize and stock store deliveries
maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment throughout the store, including the sales floor, stockroom, team member areas, and customer-facing spaces
assist with daily property upkeep by sweeping and removing debris inside the store and in exterior areas such as parking lots and walkways, collecting shopping carts, emptying trash, and performing routine restroom cleaning
provide wrapping service for ABC products, assemble custom gift baskets, and offer carryout service when needed
stay current on required training, company policies, and product knowledge to ensure compliance and provide an informed, high-quality guest experience
perform additional duties as assigned by store leadership
