Job Description

Panda Restaurant Group, Inc., founded in Glendale, California in 1983, stands as the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, boasting nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. The company has built its reputation on delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences, grounded in its core values of family, community, and personal growth. With a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment, Panda Restaurant Group prioritizes the development of its team members and the communities in which it operates. As a company, it embraces diversity and equal opportunity employment, adhering to all relevant federal, state, and local laws to ensure workplace fairness and accessibility for all employees. Their mission is to inspire people to better their lives through meaningful work, creating food with passion, service with heart, and ambiance with pride.

The Panda Shift Leader role is a critical leadership position within the restaurant, responsible for ensuring that Panda’s mission is embodied throughout each shift. This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain vital experience managing store operations in a fast-paced, dynamic setting focused on growth and customer satisfaction. As a Shift Lead, you will support store management by creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for guests, ensuring the team consistently delivers high-quality food and exceptional customer service. This role also offers hands-on experience preparing Panda’s signature menu items, which enriches skills in food preparation, teamwork, and customer engagement. The job is designed not only to hone operational leadership skills but also to provide diverse opportunities for personal and professional development through real-world challenges and team collaboration.

Working as a Shift Leader at Panda means being at the heart of the restaurant’s daily operations, influencing the customer experience positively by leading by example. You will learn to manage staff, uphold health and safety standards, and maintain an efficient workflow under pressure. This position requires a mix of technical skills, such as complying with local food safety standards (including obtaining necessary certifications like Food Handler certification at the applicant's expense), and soft skills, such as effective communication and conflict management.

Panda values integrity and ethics, expecting all associates to adhere to company policies and foster a safe, welcoming environment for both guests and employees. The work environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, often involving standing for long periods, managing hot kitchen equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Strong verbal communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to handle difficult situations with professionalism are essential attributes for success in this role. The position offers a competitive pay range of $23 to $26 per hour, which varies based on location and experience, reinforcing Panda’s dedication to rewarding their team members appropriately.

Overall, the Shift Leader position at Panda Restaurant Group is tailored for individuals who are passionate about leadership, eager to grow in the restaurant industry, and committed to creating memorable dining experiences for customers. It is a chance to join a respected, family-oriented company with a robust support system, where every team member’s contribution is valued and celebrated. Candidates can expect to thrive in an environment that encourages continuous learning and development while playing a pivotal role in the company’s ongoing success and expansion.
