Founded with the purpose of enriching communities and delivering exceptional coffee, Caribou Coffee has built its reputation on a foundation of quality, community involvement, and an inviting atmosphere. As a company, Caribou Coffee places great emphasis on its core values which focus on the team, guests, and business, fostering an environment where employees can be their authentic selves while making a positive impact. The company operates across numerous locations and is well-regarded for its friendly and community-focused service, making it a beloved spot for coffee lovers and team members alike.
The role of Shift Leader at Caribou Coffee is a pivotal leadership position that involves driving the store's operations smoothly during shifts in partnership with the General Manager or Assistant General Manager. The Shift Leader embodies the spirit of the 'Bou Crew' by leading with enthusiasm, accountability, and a passion for guest satisfaction and team engagement. This role requires a strong commitment to maintaining high standards for product quality, cleanliness, and overall store appearance while ensuring that team members perform their duties with excellence. Shift Leaders are expected to excel not only in operational management but also in coaching and developing team members, fostering an inclusive and motivating culture on every shift.
In this role, the Shift Leader demonstrates mastery in performing team member tasks and leads shifts that focus on guest satisfaction and team engagement with an unwavering commitment to making the work environment enjoyable. The leader strategically manages product sales and waste, maintains total store vision to preserve the store's look and feel, and communicates effectively to ensure smooth dispatch of roles and responsibilities. They anticipate and resolve potential issues proactively, delegate tasks efficiently, and take ownership for their shift and the following one to ensure continuity.
The Shift Leader is responsible for ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and quality standards are consistently executed across the team. They provide real-time coaching and feedback to team members, helping them bring their best to their roles and encouraging professional growth. This includes training the team on job responsibilities, product knowledge, and promotional items. Administrative responsibilities such as bank deposits, inventory management, and store product orders also fall under this role.
Core values permeate every aspect of the Shift Leader's duties: supporting one another, making fun happen, being authentic, taking ownership, and serving with love. The Shift Leader embodies humility, curiosity, and resilience, remaining calm under pressure and leading with confidence as the Manager on Duty. They foster an inclusive, inspiring culture, actively develop team members, and take full responsibility for their impact on others while pursuing continuous self-development.
This is a full-time or part-time position with shifts potentially including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The starting pay is subject to local and state minimum wage regulations. The physical nature of the job requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform other physically demanding tasks, with reasonable accommodations available. Caribou Coffee is committed to equal employment opportunity and provides a welcoming workplace free from discrimination or harassment of any kind.
