Job Description
Grotto Social Baths is a pioneering wellness destination located in the vibrant Wynwood neighborhood of Miami, Florida. Established as Miami's first modern social bathhouse, Grotto reimagines the traditional communal bathing experience by focusing on connection and shared wellness rather than escape or isolation. The establishment embraces the age-old traditions of contrast therapy, sauna culture, and intentional community gathering, creating a lively, welcoming environment where members and guests come together to sweat, plunge, and restore both body and mind. Opening its doors in Fall 2026, Grotto is an anti-spa—eschewing hushed tones, isolated relaxation rooms, and performative experiences in favor of a vibrant, high-touch atmosphere that encourages social interaction and collective rejuvenation.
This unique venue aims to provide a communal wellness experience unlike any other in Miami. It functions not only as a place for physical health benefits through sauna use and thermal therapies but also as a social hub where the community can engage in meaningful interactions. Grotto’s design and operational philosophy are tailored to facilitate a dynamic and inclusive environment that caters to both locals and visitors seeking an innovative approach to wellness.
The Shift Lead role at Grotto Social Baths is essential to ensuring the seamless operation of the facility during every shift. This position is primarily focused on execution rather than management. As a Shift Lead, you act as the shift orchestrator who keeps every aspect of the guest experience flowing smoothly from opening to closing. This involves overseeing all key departments—including check-in, cafe, housekeeping, and laundry—while maintaining operational tempo and addressing any issues that arise promptly and professionally. The position requires an individual who can multitask across various functions and stay calm under pressure, ensuring guests receive a consistent and high-quality experience throughout their visit.
Shift Leads are trusted to open and secure the building independently, manage shift transitions, and float between departments where support is most urgently needed. You'll be the first responder for daily operational concerns, resolving guest issues on the spot while escalating more complex situations to General Management. This role demands someone with a strong presence on the floor, excellent situational awareness, and the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with both guests and team members.
In collaboration with the General Manager, Shift Leads help uphold Grotto’s strict standards for service and cleanliness. They conduct regular walkthroughs, provide real-time coaching to staff, ensure checklists and operational protocols are followed accurately, and report any facility or inventory issues. Although not responsible for hiring, scheduling, or formal performance reviews, Shift Leads embody the leadership spirit by working alongside their teams and leading by example.
Designed as a launch position in an innovative wellness concept, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of Grotto Social Baths while building a clear career path toward general management roles. Candidates who enjoy a fast-paced, guest-facing environment and thrive on the challenges of maintaining operational excellence in a new venture will find this position especially rewarding.
