Reporting to the General Manager, the Shift Lead supervises team members during their shifts, ensuring that the workplace operates efficiently and effectively. The Shift Lead is tasked with organizing shift schedules, monitoring attendance, and delegating duties based on individual employee skills. Training new and current team members is essential to maintain excellence in service, while addressing customer concerns and resolving conflicts promptly ensures member satisfaction. The role requires adherence to company policies and health and safety standards, as well as the safeguarding of member documents and confidential information. Additionally, the Shift Lead ensures the club's cleanliness and maintenance remain at the highest level, contributing to a consistently positive member experience.
This role demands strong customer service skills, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities. Shift Leads must be capable of active listening, empathy, and collaboratively finding solutions to issues as they arise. Physical demands include standing for long periods, frequent walking throughout the fitness facility, occasional lifting of items up to 75 pounds, and performing various physical tasks related to stocking and cleaning. Safety is a top priority, with all necessary equipment and protocols provided to protect employees in the fitness environment.
