The Shift Lead role at Flynn Fitness holds a vital position within this framework. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Shift Lead is tasked with supervising coworkers during shifts, monitoring their performance, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards, and delegating responsibilities effectively. This leadership role involves managing team performance, quality assurance, and safety protocols to guarantee customer satisfaction.
Critical to the Shift Lead's duties is maintaining a high-energy, positive atmosphere in the Judgement Free Zone. The Shift Lead acts as both a leader and a manager, shaping the team dynamic to ensure smooth operations during shifts. Key skills required include excellent interpersonal abilities for outstanding customer service, effective communication skills through active listening and empathy, and problem-solving capabilities to address issues proactively and collaboratively.
The position necessitates robust organizational skills such as preparing shift schedules, supervising attendance, assigning employee duties based on skillsets, and providing performance feedback. Shift Leads also contribute to staffing by assisting in training new and existing team members. Customer conflict resolution and upholding company policies relating to health, safety, and employment standards form part of the essential responsibilities. Additional tasks include managing club cleanliness and maintenance to uphold the high standards expected by Flynn Fitness members and executing retail transactions accurately while driving sales in compliance with company policies.
Physically, the job demands standing for extended periods, frequent walking across the facility, occasional lifting of items up to 75 pounds, and performing movements like bending, reaching, and kneeling for stocking and cleaning purposes. Shift Leads will operate in a busy fitness environment where exposure to cleaning products occurs, though safety equipment and protocols are rigorously maintained.

Job Qualifications
