Job Description
We are a dynamic shared commercial kitchen facility located in Miami, FL, dedicated to supporting multiple food businesses by providing a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. Our kitchen spans 6,000 square feet, including a large 1,200 square foot walk-in refrigeration unit and two restrooms, catering to the rigorous needs of diverse culinary entrepreneurs. Focused on operational excellence, we foster a collaborative atmosphere where food preparation, innovation, and safety are paramount. The facility is equipped with high-quality appliances and follows routine professional maintenance schedules for deep hood and equipment cleaning, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
We are currently seeking a full-time Kitchen Operations & Sanitation Supervisor to join our team and serve as the primary daily leader on-site. This role is crucial for maintaining the daily cleanliness, safety, and efficient functioning of our commercial kitchen. The supervisor will work closely with the Facilities Manager, who oversees multiple locations, to enforce all kitchen policies and safety standards. This is an active, hands-on position requiring the supervisor to be physically present on the floor, managing multiple aspects of kitchen operations throughout the day. The typical schedule consists of 40 hours per week, generally from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with some Saturdays required in a rotating schedule that incorporates weekday time off.
As the Kitchen Operations & Sanitation Supervisor, you will shoulder a broad range of responsibilities aiming to keep the kitchen in optimal condition and ready for use by various food businesses. This involves opening and inspecting the kitchen, routine cleaning and sanitization of prep areas, equipment, floors, and the walk-in refrigerator, along with restroom maintenance and waste management. Additionally, you will be responsible for logging critical temperature and sanitation data, identifying and correcting sanitation or safety issues immediately, and enforcing all kitchen rules to ensure compliance with health codes.
You will also act as the point of contact for members using the kitchen, conducting orientations, safety walkthroughs, and handling minor conflicts, escalating issues when necessary. Your role includes light maintenance duties, vendor coordination for specialized cleaning and repairs, and maintaining clear communication with vendors, members, and management. The position requires discretion, sound decision-making, and independent work ethic.
This supervisory role offers a competitive pay rate ranging from $20 to $25 per hour, dependent on experience and bilingual English/Spanish skills. The employer also supports professional development by covering the cost of the ServSafe Food Manager Certification, a requirement for the role. Bilingual candidates are preferred to facilitate better communication with a diverse team and kitchen members. The position promises a stable work environment with the benefit of paid time off, making it a strong fit for individuals with backgrounds in kitchen supervision, restaurant management, facility supervision, or commercial cleaning and maintenance.
