Job Description

The Michaels Companies Inc., headquartered in Irving, Texas, is the leading destination for creative enthusiasts and celebrators across North America. With over 1,300 stores operating in 49 states and Canada, Michaels is dedicated to fueling the joy of creativity and celebration through a broad range of crafting, art, and custom framing supplies. The company was founded in 1973 and has grown into a recognized name synonymous with quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction in the arts and crafts retail industry. In addition to its retail operations, Michaels also owns Artistree, a manufacturer specializing in custom and specialty framing merchandise, further enhancing its position as a comprehensive resource for artists, hobbyists, and creative professionals alike.

As a part of the Michaels family, the store located in Columbia, SC, is looking for enthusiastic and customer-focused Team Members to join their dynamic retail environment. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about helping customers find the perfect products and solutions for their creative projects while ensuring a seamless shopping and checkout experience. This position typically involves part-time or full-time employment, including shifts that may occur during nights, weekends, and early mornings.

The Customer Service Team Member role is vital in maintaining the store's inviting atmosphere and operational excellence. Responsibilities include delivering friendly and efficient service, assisting customers in locating products, and engaging them about the benefits of the company’s Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards. Team Members also support omni-channel retail processes such as Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS), enhancing the overall customer experience in today's multi-channel market.

The role requires compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies to uphold safety, shrink control, and legal compliance standards.

Team Members are recognized as brand ambassadors who uphold a positive image and work collaboratively with others in a respectful and accepting manner. The role even encompasses cross-training in custom framing sales and production, providing a well-rounded skill set relevant to various store functions.

Physically, the job necessitates stamina and mobility, including standing for long periods, lifting heavy boxes, bending, and climbing ladders to access stocking areas. The environment is primarily climate controlled, yet some tasks may require outdoor activity or work in temperature-variable stockrooms. This comprehensive role is ideal for those with prior retail or customer service experience who enjoy a fast-paced, customer-oriented workplace. Michaels values diversity, inclusion, and offers a supportive environment, including reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities to participate fully in their employment.
