Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc., widely recognized by its NYSE ticker CMG, is a renowned fast-casual restaurant chain dedicated to cultivating a better world by serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked, real food using wholesome ingredients free from artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Established as a leader and innovator in the food industry, Chipotle operates restaurants in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Unique among its peers of similar scale, Chipotle owns and operates all of its North American and European locations directly, which allows for stringent quality control and a consistent guest experience across all its outlets. The company's commitment to sustainable business practices, digital innovation, and technology has helped it maintain its status as a top choice for conscientious consumers. Employees at Chipotle share a passion for delivering great guest experiences and are actively involved in conversations to shift the future of farming and food. Chipotle’s mission centers on making better food accessible to everyone. As a values-driven and people-first organization, Chipotle promotes a respectful workplace that offers equal opportunity to all, embracing diversity and ensuring that employees can realize their full potential. The company complies fully with equal employment laws and accommodates disabilities, providing an inclusive environment where all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
The role of Service Leader at Chipotle is a pivotal customer-facing position focused on maintaining a positive dining experience by ensuring that food served is both safe and of high quality. This role demands a hands-on leader who can supervise the restaurant line, ensuring it remains clean, organized, and equipped with properly functioning equipment. Service Leaders play an essential role in training and developing the restaurant crew members to deliver excellent customer service, contributing to the success of the overall team. The position requires individuals to be active on their feet during shifts, except when on break, proactively seeking to assist with various tasks as needed to support smooth restaurant operations. Key responsibilities include making sure food adheres to Chipotle's Food With Integrity philosophy, addressing food quality issues promptly, and upholding rigorous food safety standards, such as proper handwashing, glove changes, temperature monitoring, and adherence to official food safety checklists and policies. Beyond food preparation and safety, Service Leaders are also involved in resolving customer incidents, fostering positive customer experiences, and managing crew scheduling aspects such as breaks, shift changes, and meetings. Additionally, they focus on crew development by cross-training front-of-house team members, assisting with performance reviews, and grooming future leaders. Administrative responsibilities also form part of the job, which include handling banking and cash management policies, managing office paperwork, ensuring the operational status of office equipment, and maintaining adequate supply inventories.
The compensation for this role ranges from $19.90 to $22.15 per hour and eligibility includes digital tips. In addition to competitive pay, Chipotle offers a robust benefits package designed to support employees both professionally and personally. Benefits include 100% tuition assistance for select degrees or up to $5,250 per year, free food during shifts, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday closures, digital tips, competitive compensation, and clear pathways for career advancement, recognizing that 80% of managers have started as crew members. This career path highlights Chipotle’s commitment to promoting from within and supporting employee growth. Ultimately, this position is ideal for candidates passionate about food quality, customer service, team leadership, and working in a dynamic, fast-paced restaurant environment committed to better food and better business practices.
