Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc., publicly traded on the NYSE as CMG, is a renowned fast-casual restaurant chain that specializes in serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked real food made from wholesome ingredients without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Established as a leader and innovator within the food industry, Chipotle has made a firm commitment to cultivating a better world by providing high-quality food and focusing heavily on sustainable business practices, digital innovation, and technology integration. With a presence across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, Chipotle stands out as the only restaurant company of its size that owns and operates all its locations in North America and Europe directly. The company prides itself on fostering an inclusive workplace environment that promotes equality and offers opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds to thrive, reflecting its core values as a people-first, values-driven organization. Chipotle continually works towards making its food more accessible to a broad range of customers while maintaining its dedication to food with integrity, sustainability, and excellent guest experiences.
The Service Leader role at Chipotle is a pivotal position responsible for ensuring a positive and memorable customer experience by upholding the highest standards of food safety, quality, and service. The Service Leader not only supervises front-of-house operations but also ensures that the restaurant crew is well trained, efficient, and capable of delivering exceptional customer service. This role requires active engagement on the restaurant floor, including maintaining a clean and organized service line and overseeing the proper functioning of line equipment. The Service Leader must be able to multitask effectively by stepping into various roles as needed — whether it means managing customer incidents, assisting with cash handling and office administrative duties, or supporting team performance through training and reviews. The role demands excellent communication skills, leadership abilities, and a thorough knowledge of Chipotle's Food With Integrity philosophy. Key responsibilities include enforcing food safety protocols such as hand washing, glove changes, temperature monitoring, and compliance with health standards; partnering with team members to resolve food quality or customer service issues; scheduling and monitoring crew shifts and breaks; and helping to cultivate and develop future leaders within the team. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Service Leader must also ensure all supplies and office equipment are adequately stocked and operational. Chipotle offers a competitive compensation package including tuition assistance, free meals, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday closures, digital tips, and opportunities for career advancement, recognizing that 80% of managers at the company originally started in crew positions. This role is integral to Chipotle’s mission of changing the fast-food industry by emphasizing quality, customer satisfaction, and responsible business practices.
