Job Description
Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) is a well-established non-profit organization that has been serving the community for 50 years. Operating under contract with the State of California, ACRC caters to individuals with developmental disabilities, offering an array of services aimed at enhancing their quality of life. The organization employs over 900 professionals who work across eight offices that span a ten-county area. This extensive reach underscores ACRC's commitment to accessibility and comprehensive care. As one of the 21 Regional Centers in California, ACRC plays a critical role in coordinating services that support developmental disability clients and their families, making a profound impact throughout the region.
ACRC is presently hiring for the position of Service Coordinator based in their Sacramento office. This role is pivotal for providing dedicated case management and advocacy services to persons with developmental disabilities. A Service Coordinator works closely with clients and their families to identify and secure required supports such as transportation, vocational training, day programming, education, medical care, mental health services, and independent living training. They act as advocates within the community, liaising with various agencies and vendors to ensure clients receive seamless and comprehensive care. The role involves developing and monitoring Individual Program Plans, ensuring they are kept current and reflect clients' evolving needs. In addition to direct client support, Service Coordinators are responsible for maintaining meticulous documentation, following all regulatory requirements and organizational policies. This position may involve participating in a rotating officer-of-the-day schedule and providing emergency on-call services as needed. Beyond regular duties, Service Coordinators also assist colleagues with special projects, problem-solving, and coverage during vacation or sick leave.
Compensation for this role varies based on experience and education, with multiple tiers available ranging from Service Coordinator I through Service Coordinator IIIA. Salaries start at $24.80 per hour and can go up to $37.18 per hour for more senior level positions requiring advanced degrees and extensive experience. For example, Service Coordinator II positions require at least 5 years of experience working in a Regional Center, while Service Coordinator IIIB and IIIA roles require a master's degree and progressively more experience. Applicants with degrees in social work, human services, psychology, counseling, special education, and related fields are encouraged to apply.
An outstanding benefits package is offered by ACRC, encompassing employer-paid health insurance covering 90% of premiums for employees plus affordable dependent coverage, fully paid dental and vision insurance for employees and their dependents, and full employer-paid life and long-term disability insurance. Additional benefits include flexible pre-tax spending programs, participation in CalPERS pension and voluntary tax shelter annuities, as well as generous leave provisions such as 17-22 annual vacation days, 12 sick days, and 15 paid holidays. Longevity leave and an Employee Assistance Program further enhance the work environment, supporting employee well-being and work-life balance. Many employees benefit from the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, reinforcing the organization's appeal to career-driven professionals dedicated to public service.
In summary, ACRC offers a rewarding career opportunity for Service Coordinators who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. The role requires strong communication skills, excellent organizational ability, and a deep commitment to advocacy and service coordination. With a supportive work environment and a robust benefits package, ACRC fosters professional growth and job satisfaction while contributing positively to the community.
