Job Description

Black Bear Diner is a popular family dining restaurant chain known for its warm, nostalgic atmosphere and hearty, home-style meals. Operating as a franchise system, each Black Bear Diner restaurant is independently owned and operated by franchisees. These franchisees are independent business owners who establish their own wage and benefit programs, which can vary from one location to another. Black Bear Diner is committed to delivering exceptional customer service and creating a memorable dining experience for every guest, making it a beloved destination in the Southern Utah area and beyond.

Black Bear Diner is currently hiring servers to join their friendly, fast-paced team. This role is vital to the restaurant's mission of offering personalized and attentive service that makes each guest feel welcomed and valued. Servers at Black Bear Diner consistently earn competitive tips, with many taking home 20-30 percent more than servers at other dining establishments in Southern Utah. The restaurant's franchise model means that employment is directly with the franchisee, rather than Black Bear Diner Corporate or its affiliates, giving the opportunity to work closely with local management teams who understand their community and guests better. Both full-time and part-time positions are available, providing flexibility for individuals seeking various types of employment.

In the server role, the ideal candidate will provide friendly, prompt, and individualized service to ensure every guest enjoys a positive dining experience that encourages repeat visits. This includes welcoming and greeting guests warmly, informing them of specials, answering questions about the menu, and efficiently taking and delivering food and beverage orders. Maintaining cleanliness in service areas and assisting fellow servers as needed are also key elements of the position, ensuring smooth restaurant operations throughout each shift. Servers are expected to be attentive to guests' needs, monitor their satisfaction continuously, and respond promptly to any requests or concerns.

The role also involves handling financial transactions, including preparing bills and presenting checks at the appropriate time during service. Physical stamina is important, as servers spend extended periods standing and must be capable of lifting and maneuvering plates and supplies safely. The ideal candidate brings a positive, outgoing personality combined with effective communication skills and a solid understanding of dining room and service procedures. Basic math skills and the ability to operate point-of-sale systems accurately are essential. Black Bear Diner values team players who are flexible, reliable, and ready to support the restaurant's overall success.

Joining Black Bear Diner offers the chance to be part of a fast-growing family dining concept with a strong commitment to quality food and exceptional customer service. Employees gain valuable experience in hospitality and the opportunity to earn good income through both wages and tips. Because franchisees set their own wage and benefit programs, specifics can differ, but the overall goal remains the same: creating a welcoming environment where guests feel at home and motivated to return frequently. Black Bear Diner invites enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic restaurant setting to apply and become part of their team.
