Job Description

Raytheon Technologies, a global leader in defense and aerospace, is dedicated to innovation and protecting the freedoms of our nation and allied countries. With over 100 years of history and engineering excellence, Raytheon stands at the forefront of technological advancement in missile defense and integrated systems. The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) organization within Raytheon is based in Tucson, AZ, and provides a dynamic environment for engineers to engage deeply with cutting-edge defense technologies and systems. SETC focuses on designing, developing, integrating, and testing advanced systems that are critical to national security and global defense efforts.

The Senior Systems Engineer role at Raytheon Technologies is a full-time onsite position located at the Tucson, AZ campus, where you will be immersed in a collaborative team environment dedicated to the successful design and deployment of missile defense systems. This position is crucial for ensuring that embedded software within missile systems meets rigorous requirements through the entire Systems V engineering lifecycle. As a Software-focused Responsible Systems Engineer, you will direct the management of system and subsystem requirements, play a technical role in integration and test activities, and contribute to verification and validation efforts. The role requires close partnership with multi-disciplinary teams including software developers, configurable logic experts, test engineers, and customers. You will become a key technical contributor, responsible for overseeing embedded software design and integration issues while ensuring system functionality meets warfighter needs.

Your duties will include updating system and subsystem level requirements specifications for embedded software and test systems software; modeling system development and production processes using Cameo; conducting trade studies and presenting results to the customer; supporting verification and validation efforts to ensure full requirements compliance; collaborating with various engineering teams across multiple technical tasks; actively participating in technical discussions with customers; and mentoring junior team members to strengthen the systems engineering capabilities of the group. This position requires a high level of technical acumen in embedded software design and coordination within complex missile systems.

Candidates must have an active or the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance prior to the start date and must be U.S. citizens. The role offers competitive salary ranging from $86,800 to $165,200, reflective of experience and qualifications, along with comprehensive benefits, relocation assistance, and a supportive work culture guided by core values such as safety, trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

This is an exceptional opportunity for systems engineers looking to apply their expertise in a mission-driven environment where their contributions directly enhance national defense capabilities. You will gain exposure to state-of-the-art engineering practices including MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering), Agile development, trade study analysis, and advanced embedded software testing. Being part of Raytheon means you will work alongside leading technologists and subject matter experts on challenging projects that have tangible impact worldwide.
