Job Description
USC Hospitality is a distinguished division of the University of Southern California Auxiliary Services, dedicated to serving over 65,000 students, athletes, faculty, staff, and visitors through an array of fine dining restaurants and residential dining options. As one of the largest employers on campus, USC Hospitality is guided by a team of innovative chefs and directors committed to crafting nourishing and wholesome food alternatives that uphold the strong community values of the Trojan Family. This organization prides itself on delivering exceptional hospitality services and experiences by blending tradition with creativity and a forward-thinking approach. The welcoming environment and comprehensive dining offerings cater to the dynamic needs of USC’s diverse community, emphasizing quality, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.
We are currently seeking a Senior Special Events Program Coordinator to join our rapidly growing and dynamic team. This critical role involves strategizing and planning special events and unique experiences tailored to supporting the evolving needs of USC Hospitality and the USC Hotel departments. The Senior Special Events Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in aligning departmental messaging with overall brand goals, enhancing our public relations efforts, and managing the social media presence for both units. With a strong focus on innovation and guest engagement, this role demands leadership in developing new revenue streams while ensuring consistency in customer experience across all engagements.
The coordinator will collaborate closely with chefs, sales, and operations management, as well as other cross-unit teams, to activate multiple venues and create unforgettable events characterized by high standards of service and execution. They will also be tasked with supporting marketing initiatives and sales goals through strategic campaigns and community outreach, aiming to raise awareness and promote the premium services provided by USC Private Events, Conferences, Restaurants, and Special Events.
In addition, the Senior Special Events Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing team members, including supervising staff and student workers, offering guidance, approvals, and ongoing support. They will lead the creation and implementation of systems for profitability review, managing budgets effectively to maximize earned revenue and exceed performance targets. Crafting engaging content for various communication channels such as social media, newsletters, promotional campaigns, and presentations will also fall under this role’s purview.
Successful candidates will be proactive in establishing and maintaining professional networks both within and outside USC. They will stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, continually enhancing operational efficiencies and process improvements. The position requires exceptional project management, scheduling, and organizational skills, as well as the flexibility to work during weekends, evenings, or holidays as necessary to meet business demands.
The role offers a competitive annual salary range of $79,000 to $80,000 and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to one of the most vibrant and innovative hospitality environments in higher education. At USC, the commitment to integrity, excellence, community, well-being, open communication, and accountability drives every action, fostering a supportive work culture where every team member is valued and empowered to succeed. Joining USC Hospitality means becoming part of a dedicated community united by tradition and a shared mission to deliver exceptional service and experiences.
