Job Description
Waldorf Astoria Chicago is a prestigious luxury hotel situated in the iconic Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago. Known for its exceptional service and luxurious accommodations, the Waldorf Astoria Chicago has earned the distinguished AAA Five Diamond and Forbes 4-Star ratings. The hotel features 215 elegantly designed rooms and offers over 5,000 square feet of meeting space, catering to both leisure and business travelers alike. Guests can enjoy multiple dining options including a fine dining restaurant, two bars, and room service, all designed to provide an exquisite culinary experience. With its prime location among the famed Oak Street retailers, Rush Street restaurants, vibrant nightlife, and the Magnificent Mile, the hotel seamlessly combines urban sophistication with rich historical charm reminiscent of the grand Parisian hotels of the 1920s.
As a Senior Sous Chef at Waldorf Astoria Chicago, you will play a pivotal role in upholding the hotel's commitment to delivering unparalleled hospitality and memorable guest experiences. This leadership position demands a strong culinary expertise coupled with the ability to inspire and manage kitchen teams effectively. You will be responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation are consistently met across all food and beverage outlets. The role includes hands-on leadership and real-time coaching for staff, fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence between kitchen teams and front-of-house personnel. You will also contribute creatively by developing and implementing seasonal menus, promotional features, and daily specials that showcase culinary innovation and meet guest expectations.
Administrative responsibilities such as inventory management, ordering, and staff scheduling fall within this role, reinforcing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Ensuring compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness regulations is crucial, safeguarding both guest and team member wellbeing. Working in alignment with Hilton’s core values — including hospitality, integrity, leadership, teamwork, ownership, and urgency — the Senior Sous Chef embodies the spirit of the brand and elevates the culinary experience within the luxury hotel setting.
The position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a global hospitality leader renowned for its award-winning workplace culture. Hilton, the parent company of Waldorf Astoria, emphasizes career growth, employee wellbeing, and inclusivity, presenting exceptional perks such as discounted travel rates, stock purchase options, paid parental leave, mental health resources, and generous paid time off. Joining this team means contributing to an outstanding workplace and helping create extraordinary moments for guests from around the world while advancing your culinary career in a supportive and prestigious environment.
