Within Cox Automotive’s Engineering & Technology division, the Enterprise AI Integration Platform team is pioneering the development of a centralized infrastructure that allows AI agents—such as Claude, Copilot Studio, and Claude Code—to securely and efficiently connect to enterprise data sources. This platform is designed to be governed, observable, and self-service, enabling every team in the organization to leverage AI tools within a secure and compliant environment. The Senior Platform Engineer role is crucial to this vision, with responsibilities spanning the technical implementation and management of the platform’s core components, including the AI Gateway server, connector provisioning engine, identity-driven session management, and observability framework.
This position plays a vital role at the intersection of enterprise infrastructure and the innovative Model Context Protocol (MCP), an emerging standard for interfacing AI agents with enterprise systems. The Senior Platform Engineer will take ownership of designing, building, and optimizing the AI Gateway MCP server, utilizing FastAPI and uvicorn to handle high concurrency and enterprise-grade workloads. The role includes constructing scalable Redis ElastiCache session layers integrated with Microsoft Entra identity for robust authentication, role-based access, and session controls.
Additionally, this role demands expertise in automating container provisioning engines that establish secure network paths and credential management through AWS Secrets Manager, facilitating seamless AI agent access to data sources. The engineer will develop MCP tool sets to connect core enterprise systems such as Oracle DB, SharePoint, Rally, and ServiceNow, enforcing approvals through secure ECR image scanning and maintaining an Aurora-backed connector registry.
Testing is another fundamental aspect—comprehensive automated unit, integration, load, and chaos testing ensures reliability and fault tolerance under heavy user concurrency. The observability stack comprises structured logging, Prometheus metrics, OpenSearch indexing via Kinesis Firehose, and Grafana dashboards, providing full transparency and auditability into platform usage.
The role requires security stewardship, with management of OIDC token validation, PII masking, WAF rules, and secure API design aligned with OWASP standards. Continuous integration and deployment pipelines built with GitHub Actions support automated builds, ECS task updates, and blue/green deployments for zero-downtime releases. Ownership extends to maintaining and enhancing the Snowflake MCP codebase fundamental to the platform’s session, role-based access, configuration, and secrets modules.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years experience in a related field or equivalent experience combinations
- 4+ years Python development with advanced async await patterns FastAPI multiprocessing and performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with Model Context Protocol MCP servers tool definitions and client integrations
- Proficiency in AWS platform including ECS Fargate Redis ElastiCache Secrets Manager Route 53 ALB ECR Aurora Postgres SSM Parameter Store CloudWatch and Kinesis Firehose
- Experience integrating Microsoft Entra ID Azure AD with OIDC federation group membership extraction and RBAC implementation
- Skilled in database integrations and optimizations Oracle PostgreSQL Snowflake SQL Server connection pooling and query tuning
- Knowledge of distributed systems patterns and Redis-backed state management
- Experience with Docker and ECS container platforms including security best practices

Job Duties
- Design implement and optimize the central AI Gateway MCP server built on FastAPI and uvicorn for high concurrency workloads
- Build and maintain the Redis ElastiCache session layer integrating Microsoft Entra identity with role-resolved MCP tool sets including token lifecycle management sliding TTL extension per-user quota enforcement and distributed rate limiting
- Implement the on-demand connector provisioning engine provisioning compute containers with enterprise client drivers establishing VPC-internal network paths and retrieving credentials from AWS Secrets Manager based on AI agent intent
- Build enterprise system connectors as MCP tool sets for Oracle DB SharePoint Graph API Rally ServiceNow and vendor connector approval pipeline with ECR container image scanning and Aurora-backed connector registry
- Implement comprehensive automated testing including unit integration load testing with 1000+ concurrent users and chaos testing for connector fault tolerance
- Build and maintain the full observability stack including structured logging Prometheus metrics Kinesis Firehose OpenSearch indexing and Grafana dashboards for per-user per-tool per-session audit trails
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for all platform components using GitHub Actions with automated container image builds ECS task definition updates and blue green deployments
