The Executive Chef at The Terraces of Boise plays a pivotal role in elevating the culinary experience within this award-winning community. This position presents an exciting opportunity for a talented and passionate culinary leader to oversee daily kitchen operations and culinary production with a commitment to excellence. The Executive Chef collaborates closely with the Director of Dining Services to ensure a hospitality-centered dining program that exceeds expectations across the various levels of care, including Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care. This role requires a visionary chef who is dedicated not only to food quality and presentation but also to maintaining rigorous food safety standards and efficient inventory management.

The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $90,000, depending on experience, reflecting the high level of responsibility and expertise required. The successful candidate will oversee menu execution, food taste and temperature control, portion accuracy, and culinary team supervision and development. The Executive Chef will provide hands-on leadership during meal times, special events, and periods of low staffing to maintain consistent culinary excellence. Duties extend beyond food preparation to include recipe scaling, kitchen workflow optimization, budget adherence, and fostering open communication between kitchen and dining room personnel. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • current ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification or ability to obtain it promptly
  • minimum 3 years of culinary management experience preferred
  • knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and commercial kitchen practices
  • experience supervising and training culinary staff
  • strong communication skills
  • proficiency with basic computer systems and business applications
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Job Qualifications

  • Current ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification or ability to obtain it promptly
  • knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and commercial kitchen practices
  • experience in supervising and training culinary staff in a fast-paced environment
  • strong communication skills with residents, team members, and vendors
  • proficiency in basic computer systems and business applications
  • culinary degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of culinary management experience preferred
  • high-volume production and catering experience preferred
  • experience in a Life Plan Community or healthcare dining preferred
  • desire to grow and learn with a reputable food service company

Job Duties

  • Oversee daily culinary production and kitchen operations
  • ensure safe, accurate, and consistent meal preparation according to approved menus and recipes
  • maintain high standards of food quality, taste, temperature, presentation, and portion control
  • supervise, train, and evaluate culinary staff including sous chefs, cooks, and kitchen support personnel
  • provide hands-on culinary leadership during meal periods, special events, and staffing shortages
  • plan and organize daily production including recipe scaling and kitchen workflow
  • collaborate with dining room leadership to ensure excellent communication and coordination between kitchen and service staff
