The company operates across multiple locations in the United States, supporting the U.S. Armed Forces, the Federal Aviation Administration, and various international and commercial partners. Saab is recognized for its commitment to diversity, professional growth, and work-life balance, cultivating an inclusive environment where all employees are respected and supported. Saab values the contributions of protected veterans and individuals with disabilities and adheres to affirmative action policies and equal opportunity principles, ensuring hiring practices free from discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, or disability.

The Senior Assembler position at Saab, Inc. in East Syracuse, NY, offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join their Manufacturing and Production team. This role is pivotal in assembling high-quality components and products using detailed wire diagrams, engineering drawings, sketches, and oral instructions. The Senior Assembler applies advanced electrical and mechanical assembly techniques to address complex issues and supports the company’s overarching goals. This position demands proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools, including torque wrenches, wire cutters, strippers, and crimpers, as well as familiarity with operating industrial equipment such as fork trucks, automotive lifts, ladders, lifting platforms, and cranes.

This role also requires a strong understanding and application of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) principles to ensure the safeguarding of sensitive components during assembly. The Senior Assembler must have the ability to independently identify and resolve tasks while occasionally supporting limited business travel up to 10% annually. This full-time role offers a competitive hourly wage between $23.51 and $28.17, reflecting the candidate’s experience, skills, and education.

In addition to the technical responsibilities, the Senior Assembler position demands physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs to elevated platforms, stand and walk for extended periods, and work outdoors as required. The job also requires U.S. citizenship due to security regulations, and candidates must pass a government security investigation to gain access to classified information. As a federal government contractor, Saab maintains a drug-free workplace, requiring candidates to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Saab provides excellent benefits that promote professional growth, work-life balance, and employee well-being. Employees can expect comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for themselves and their dependents, generous paid time off including designated holidays, a 401(k) retirement plan with employer contributions, tuition and student loan assistance programs, wellness resources, employee stock purchase plans, and disability coverage.
