The Seasonal Snack Bar Cook position at WGCC offers an exciting opportunity to join this prestigious club for the upcoming summer season. With full and part-time seasonal hours available, this role is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in a high-end, private club setting. The position involves a wide range of culinary responsibilities that require strong leadership qualities and a deep understanding of kitchen operations. As a Seasonal Snack Bar Cook, you will lead a team of specialized cooks including grill cooks, fish cooks, vegetable cooks, fryer cooks, meat cooks, and garde manger cooks. You will work closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, assisting with daily specials, monitoring protein inventory, and overseeing station operations to ensure smooth service during busy periods.

This role demands a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality, preparation, presentation, and cleanliness, consistent with WGCC’s reputation for excellence. Candidates should be familiar with health, OSHA, and Department of Labor regulations and be capable of enforcing hygiene standards to prevent food spoilage and contamination. Your role will also include ensuring that all food items meet standard portion sizes and cooking methods, supporting teammates in line cleaning, and maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment including pantry, prep kitchens, dish area, and other related spaces. Whether filling in on a station or mentoring junior staff, your contribution is vital to providing an excellent food service experience for members and guests. The ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment and establish positive relationships with diverse personalities is essential for success in this position. Compensation for this role ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, reflecting the club’s commitment to fair and competitive pay for its valued staff members.

Job Requirements

  • Previous cooking experience in a restaurant or culinary environment
  • food handler certification
  • trained in knife skills and basic kitchen equipment
  • ability to multitask efficiently under pressure
  • physical ability to sit, stand, walk, squat, reach, bend, stoop, twist, climb, clean, and lift up to 20 pounds
  • capability to handle hot and cold conditions and exposure to dust, fumes, or gases
  • ability to work near moving machinery

  • authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship

Job Duties

  • Lead all the cooks including grill cooks, fish cooks, vegetable cooks, fryer cooks, meat cooks, and garde manger cooks
  • support the Executive Chef and the Sous Chefs
  • assist the Sous Chefs with daily specials and other projects
  • check all protein inventory
  • oversee all stations and fill in when necessary
  • help other cooks to clean the line
  • create and maintain sound working relationships with all preparation personnel
  • enforce proper sanitation practices and ensure compliance with health regulations
  • report any maintenance or repairs needed to Executive Chef and Sous Chefs
  • maintain standard portion sizes, cooking methods, and quality standards
  • stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at stations
  • maintain a clean and sanitary work station including tables, shelves, and equipment
  • comply with departmental policies and employee handbook rules
  • provide excellent food quality and presentation
  • ensure timely food production and educate servers on the menu
  • assist in daily cleaning of pantry, cooking line, prep kitchen, dish area, stairs, walk-in and downstairs prep area
  • adapt to functional changes based on daily needs
