Job Description
Music & Arts is the nation's leading partner in K-12 music education, dedicated to fostering creativity and musical ability in students across the country. Established in 1952 by Benjamin O'Brien in Bethesda, Maryland, Music & Arts initially offered a diverse range of creative services including printed music, lessons in music and dance, and art supplies. Soon after its founding, the company focused exclusively on music to best serve its customers. Over the decades, it has expanded substantially, now comprising over 225 retail stores, 200 educational representatives, and more than 250 affiliate locations nationwide. As part of the Guitar Center enterprise and based in Frederick, Maryland, Music & Arts stands as the largest band and orchestra instrument retailer in the United States. The company emphasizes putting customers first and acting with respect, integrity, and passion to fulfill its mission of spreading the joy of music to both musicians and non-musicians alike.
In this seasonal role as a Rental Event Assistant, you will play an essential part in bringing school instrument rental events to life across your assigned area. Working closely with Education Account Managers, your role will involve helping to set up and break down rental events at local schools, which includes arranging tables, signage, and managing event flow to ensure a smooth rental experience. You'll be responsible for preparing inventory and paperwork, such as tagging instruments and completing checklists to ensure all equipment is accounted for and properly documented. During events, you serve as the friendly face welcoming parents and students, answering questions, assisting families in selecting the appropriate instruments, and facilitating the rental process using user-friendly mobile and tablet tools.
You will also be expected to communicate clearly and professionally with various stakeholders including school staff, families, and your teammates. This role requires a physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as you will be handling musical instruments and supplies regularly. The position demands flexibility in working hours, including evenings to accommodate school schedules. Travel within the designated marketplace to school event locations is also a requirement, and preparation work may take place at Music & Arts warehouses, storage facilities, or retail stores. Through this role, you will contribute to making musical experiences accessible and enjoyable, supporting the company’s commitment to nurturing lifelong musicians by delivering excellent service and fostering a positive rental environment. This opportunity is ideal for those who enjoy interacting with families and want to make a tangible difference in music education at the local community level. Music & Arts values diversity, equity, and inclusion, encouraging applicants of all backgrounds to apply and become part of a passionate team dedicated to inspiring musical creativity.
