The Wine Group (TWG) is a prominent and innovative leader in the wine and alcoholic beverage industry, renowned for its extensive portfolio of over 120 award-winning brands. With operational facilities in California, New York, and Australia, TWG serves a broad and diverse clientele by delivering high-quality, sustainable products that wine lovers and beverage enthusiasts across the globe cherish. Brands under The Wine Group umbrella include notable names such as Cupcake, Franzia, Benziger, Imagery, Tribute, Chloe, Meiomi, Cooks, 7 Deadly, and Cooper & Thief, among others. These brands represent a commitment to excellence and sustainability, reflecting TWG’s dedication not only to producing delicious, flavorful wines and spirits but also to implementing environmentally conscious practices at every stage of production. Potential candidates interested in joining TWG will find a dynamic, forward-thinking company that values quality, innovation, and the cultivation of passionate teams to advance its mission.
The Seasonal Lab Technician 1 position at The Wine Group is a critical role designed to support the company during its vital harvest season, typically spanning from the current period through approximately October. Serving under the direction of the Lab Quality Services Manager, the Seasonal Lab Technician 1 is responsible for executing an array of chemical and physical analyses that encompass both routine and non-routine testing as required for quality control, research, and product development purposes. This role is fundamental to overseeing the evaluation of raw ingredients such as grapes, as well as ongoing assessment of the winemaking process and final products. The technician will work closely with sophisticated laboratory instrumentation to ensure all quality benchmarks are met and that products align with TWG’s high standards.
This seasonal role offers hands-on experience with a variety of analytical techniques including titrimetric, colorimetric, and instrumental methods. The candidate will be expected to operate laboratory tools such as refractometers, spectrophotometers, pH meters, and Alcolyzers while maintaining and calibrating these instruments to ensure precise, reliable data. The technician will assist with yeast and nutrient additions, fermentation tracking, and quality monitoring across different stages like press analysis, barrel monitoring, and cellar aging processes. Precision, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation are essential skills for this position.
Ideal candidates will possess some prior lab experience or hold degrees in relevant fields such as Enology, Chemistry, or Food Science, demonstrating familiarity with analytical instrumentation and laboratory procedures. Flexibility is required as the technician must be able to work either swing or graveyard shifts to support the production schedule. The company emphasizes safety and the ability to perform physical tasks, including working at heights up to 30 feet and lifting weights up to 50 pounds. Additionally, candidates who stay the entire harvest season are eligible for an additional Stay Pay Bonus, underscoring TWG’s commitment to rewarding dedication and reliability.
Working at The Wine Group as a Seasonal Lab Technician 1 provides an invaluable opportunity for individuals seeking to build their careers in the food and beverage industry, particularly within the exciting and evolving winemaking sector. The job offers practical experience contributing to high-quality product development in a collaborative environment that embraces innovation and continuous learning, all at a competitive hourly pay rate of $22.00. This role not only allows technicians to refine their laboratory skills but also to gain a comprehensive understanding of production operations in a world-class wine company dedicated to sustainability and consumer satisfaction.
