Job Description

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, located in Dallas, Texas, is a world-renowned institution dedicated to exploring the life, death, and enduring legacy of President John F. Kennedy. Housed in the historic Texas School Book Depository building, this iconic museum offers visitors a captivating experience where critical historical evidence related to the assassination of President Kennedy is preserved and displayed. Since its establishment in 1989 to mark the 25th anniversary of the assassination, the Museum has evolved from a temporary exhibition into a fully accredited institution endorsed by the American Alliance of Museums. It stands as a prominent cultural landmark dedicated to preserving and sharing the significant events of November 22, 1963, and their impact on American history and society.

The Museum draws a diverse range of donors and supporters from local and international communities, all deeply committed to maintaining the relevance and accessibility of this critical historical period. Visitors to the Museum can immerse themselves in a variety of exhibits and programs that elucidate President Kennedy's presidency, the circumstances surrounding his assassination, and the lasting cultural significance of these events.

We are currently seeking a Guest Services Representative for a seasonal/temporary role to join our dedicated team. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a passionate group of individuals who are not only enthusiastic about history but also excel in providing high-quality customer service in an engaging public environment. The role involves supporting the delivery of exemplary visitor experiences by offering informative and friendly interactions, enforcing museum policies, and assisting visitors to ensure their time at the Museum is both enjoyable and meaningful. This summer non-exempt position spans approximately 10-12 weeks from late May or early June 2026 through mid-August 2026. While this role does not provide employee benefits such as health insurance or paid leave, it provides a unique chance to gain valuable experience in a prestigious cultural institution and to contribute to the preservation of an important historical narrative.

As a Guest Services Representative, you will play a critical role in welcoming visitors, responding to inquiries, managing visitor flow especially during peak times, and assisting in maintaining a safe and organized environment. This position requires individuals who are adaptable, professional, able to work as part of a team, and who take initiative with sound judgment in a dynamic setting. Seasonal employees will participate in various operational aspects including supporting event-specific needs, helping with first aid when necessary, and assisting in emergency evacuations if required. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for history and public service, ensuring every visitor’s experience at The Sixth Floor Museum is memorable and positive.
