Job Description

The Resort at Pelican Hill, located in the scenic city of Newport Beach, California, is a premier luxury resort known for its stunning ocean views, exceptional service, and world-class amenities. As part of the esteemed Marriott International family, The Resort at Pelican Hill embodies a commitment to providing guests with exquisite experiences through impeccable attention to detail and a dedication to hospitality excellence. The resort features beautifully designed accommodations, gourmet dining options, a championship golf course, and a variety of recreational and wellness facilities, making it a sought-after destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and refined luxury.

At The Resort at Pelican Hill, the culinary team plays a vital role in delivering the resort's mission of exceptional hospitality. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Food and Beverage culinary professional for a seasonal, full-time position. This role offers an hourly wage of $30.00 and is non-management in nature, focusing on hands-on culinary preparation and support within our dynamic food and beverage operations. This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about food service, eager to contribute to a high-standard dining environment, and looking to grow within a leading hospitality group.

The position requires the preparation of special meals and substitution of items in adherence to recipe and quality standards, as well as maintaining food safety and presentation excellence. The culinary associate will be responsible for regulating cooking appliance temperatures, ensuring food is safely thawed and stored, and monitoring portion control and garnishment details to deliver visually appealing dishes. Maintaining food logs and communicating effectively with the kitchen team and food service staff about menu specials and availability are also essential aspects of the role.

In addition to food preparation, the ideal candidate will assist management with various staff-related functions such as hiring support, training, scheduling, and fostering a positive work environment. Acting as a role model for team members, this position emphasizes adherence to all company safety, security, and quality protocols. Candidates should be prepared to uphold personal and professional standards, maintain confidentiality, and exhibit proactive communication and teamwork skills.

Physically, the job entails periods of standing, walking, and sitting, with frequent bending, twisting, lifting (up to 25 pounds), and other movements consistent with kitchen operations. The role may also include other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors to support smooth daily functioning of the kitchen and food service areas.

Preferred qualifications include a technical, trade, or vocational school degree and a minimum of three years of related work experience in the food and beverage or culinary sector. While supervisory experience is not required, a collaborative attitude and willingness to assist in leadership activities is highly valued. There are no licensing or certification requirements for this position, making it accessible for skilled culinary professionals looking to engage with a prestigious resort environment.

By joining The Resort at Pelican Hill, part of the globally recognized Marriott International and its luxury St. Regis brand portfolio, you become part of a diverse team dedicated to cultural inclusivity, professional growth, and delivering bespoke guest experiences. Marriott International is an equal opportunity employer, actively embracing diversity, and providing opportunities for all qualified candidates, including those with criminal histories in accordance with applicable laws. We invite passionate culinarians to be where they can do their best work, begin their purpose, belong to a supportive team, and become the best version of themselves.
