This role is for a Bar Server at The Westin Cleveland, offering a competitive hourly wage of $12.25 with potential tips and service charge eligibility. The Bar Server plays a critical part in maintaining a hospitable atmosphere and ensuring positive guest experiences. Responsibilities include setting up the bar daily, requisitioning and stocking beverages and supplies based on event projections, preparing fresh garnishes and perishables to guarantee quality, and delivering courteous, friendly service to guests while efficiently processing drink orders. The server must mix, garnish, and present drinks according to standard recipes with attention to portion control. The position requires adherence to all alcoholic beverage regulations and performing cash handling tasks to balance sales and inventory. The Bar Server also secures all beverages and equipment and complies with attendance policies while supporting team efforts with other job-related duties as assigned. This role requires strong communication skills, basic arithmetic proficiency, manual dexterity for garnishing and drink preparation, and the ability to work long shifts in confined spaces. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- hotel experience preferred
- basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of alcoholic beverages

Job Qualifications
- Hotel experience preferred
- must communicate well with guests
- must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
- basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes
- sufficient manual dexterity to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock
- ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items
- ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures
- ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time
- ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons
- effective verbal and written communication skills
- ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences
Job Duties
- Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis
- requisitions and stocks all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce based on projections
- maintains stock, cuts, and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily
- greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks
- mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control
- abides by all state, federal and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
- inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest
- receives cash from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and ensures vouchers are properly executed
- locks and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank
- complies with attendance rules and is available to work on a regular basis
- performs any other job-related duties as assigned
