Job Description

BioNTech is a pioneering biotechnology company headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, recognized globally for its dedication to revolutionizing medicine through innovative scientific advances. Situated at the heart of the world's leading life sciences cluster, BioNTech benefits from a thriving ecosystem of research institutions, biopharmaceutical companies, and scientific incubators that drive collaboration and breakthrough discoveries in healthcare. As part of the Greater Boston area "biotech supercluster," the company continually harnesses the synergy between academia and industry to develop novel therapies, medical devices, and diagnostics that address pressing global health challenges.

With a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and excellence, BioNTech fosters a dynamic workplace culture where creativity, innovation, and scientific rigor come together to translate cutting-edge research into survival-enhancing medical solutions. The company values employees as integral partners in its mission to improve the health of people worldwide, focusing especially on diseases with high medical needs such as cancer and infectious diseases. BioNTech’s workplace environment champions equal opportunity, meritocracy, and respect for all individuals, cultivating a space where professionals from various backgrounds can grow and contribute meaningfully to medical breakthroughs.

The role focuses on antibody-drug conjugates (ADC) research, a highly specialized area within biopharmaceutical development. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary ADC team responsible for advancing innovative ADC therapeutic programs. They will work independently and collaboratively, ensuring the timely generation and thorough characterization of ADCs. This position demands a detail-oriented and highly motivated scientist with the capacity for autonomous experimental execution, coupled with excellent communication abilities to effectively present findings to cross-functional teams.

The ideal applicant will have expertise in protein or antibody drug conjugation and characterization, complemented by hands-on experience in protein expression, purification, and characterization techniques. Proficiency in mammalian cell culture involving both adherent and suspension cells, transient protein expression, and cell-based assays is essential. The role also requires familiarity with key laboratory instrumentation such as AKTA and HPLC systems, along with knowledge of filtration processes including bench-scale dead-end filtration and tangential flow filtration (TFF). Experience in protein-based assays like ELISA and MSD is an advantage.

Candidates should demonstrate strong teamwork skills and proactive communication within a diverse team environment. Self-motivation and the ability to operate autonomously while integrating with cross-functional groups are critical to success. The position is full-time and based in Cambridge, US, with an expectation to work onsite at least four days per week.

BioNTech offers a competitive pay range starting from $99,100 to $158,700 annually, supplemented by benefits, an annual bonus, and equity options. Compensation details depend on the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and responsibilities. The comprehensive benefits package underscores BioNTech’s dedication to employee wellbeing and includes medical, dental, vision coverage, life and critical illness insurance, parental leave, and many other supportive programs. The workplace environment invites professionals passionate about making a difference in biomedicine to apply and grow within a respected leader in the biotechnology sector.
