The role of a Sanitation Porter at Stratas Foods is a full-time position offering a very competitive wage of $20.24 per hour. The Sanitation Porter is a vital part of the production department, responsible for maintaining clean and orderly work environments to ensure a safe and hygienic facility. The role involves rigorous responsibilities aligned with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety protocols, and regulatory requirements, placing food safety at the forefront. Duties include cleaning and sanitizing production floors, removing trash and food waste, operating floor cleaning equipment, and maintaining cleanliness in loading docks and entryways. The Sanitation Porter is also expected to support special cleaning projects during plant shutdowns or as directed and to follow chemical handling procedures accurately. This position requires physical activity such as lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, standing for long periods, working in confined spaces, and at heights. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year experience in sanitation or janitorial roles preferably in food production
  • ability to lift 50 pounds
  • ability to climb stairs, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods
  • ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
  • knowledge of GMPs and food safety compliance
  • ability to follow chemical handling procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 1+ year of experience in janitorial, sanitation, or facility maintenance preferably in a manufacturing or food production environment
  • knowledge of basic cleaning and sanitation practices
  • understands Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety standards
  • ability to read and follow safety instructions and cleaning schedules
  • strong attention to detail to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Support the plant's food safety culture and comply with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • clean and sanitize production floors in accordance with facility cleaning schedules
  • remove trash and food waste from designated areas ensuring proper disposal
  • sweep, mop, and scrub floors while operating floor-cleaning equipment
  • maintain cleanliness of loading docks and entryways
  • assist with cleaning production areas as needed
  • follow proper chemical handling procedures and maintain accurate chemical usage logs
  • ensure compliance with GMPs and all company safety policies
  • report maintenance issues or unsafe conditions to management immediately
  • support special cleaning projects during plant shutdowns or as directed
  • adapt to shifting priorities and assist wherever needed to meet company goals
