The Sales and Events Coordinator role at the University Place Hotel, a premier hotel located within Portland State University, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of the hotel’s sales and event operations. This is a part-time position (0.5 FTE, approximately 20 hours per week) that requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively across various departments. The coordinator will be responsible for driving sales initiatives, managing event logistics, and ensuring seamless communication between clients and hotel departments. This includes prospecting for new business, preparing promotional materials, booking rooms, coordinating vendor relationships, and providing on-site support during events.

Job Requirements
- Three years of office experience including two years at full performance level
- experience generating documents
- lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures
- ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- keen attention to detail
- reliable and predictable attendance
- ability to handle last-minute adjustments
- good communication skills in English
- demonstrated computer proficiency including data entry
- valid Food Handler Permit
- valid Alcohol Server Permit
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- degree in hospitality management or related field is a plus
- 1-2 years experience in food service, sales, conference support, or hotel reservations
- valid Food Handler Permit
- valid Alcohol Server Permit
- proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- strong customer service orientation
- ability to communicate effectively in English
- capable of prioritizing tasks in fast-paced environment
- self-motivated and organized
- knowledge of event management systems such as Opera or EMS preferred
- familiarity with mixology, cocktail recipes, and local catering resources preferred
- experience in group sales or hotel hospitality preferred
