The role of the Team Member at Sizzler is integral in supporting the restaurant’s food preparation and service activities. This position primarily focuses on preparing and producing food items, particularly salads, using approved recipes and maintaining quality standards. The Team Member is responsible for routine salad preparation, including washing, cutting, and cooking various ingredients such as vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, poultry, and seafood to ensure freshness and adherence to sanitation and safety protocols. Duties also extend to establishing and maintaining the salad bar, cleaning work areas and equipment, and ensuring the restaurant remains organized and hygienic. This role requires flexibility, as team members may be assigned to multiple departments or special projects as needed, reflecting Sizzler’s dynamic and team-oriented work environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 1-3 months related experience or training
  • Current California Food Handlers Card
  • Ability to comprehend simple instructions
  • Ability to read recipes
  • Ability to speak and understand English
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols
  • Physical ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or 1-3 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combinations of education and experience
  • Current California Food Handlers Card
  • Ability to comprehend simple instructions and understand measurements
  • Able to read recipes
  • Ability to speak and understand English both written and verbally
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions

Job Duties

  • Wash, cut and/or cook vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, poultry and/or seafood to prepare for use
  • Prepares and arranges vegetables and fruits for salads according to recipe and garnishes using hand and electric food service equipment
  • Set up salad bar, cleans equipment, work area, utensils, and refrigerator
  • Uses prep lists to determine production for the day and prepares ingredients for and mixes salad dressings and sauces
  • Maintains a fresh and attractive salad bar as well as the organization and cleanliness of the restaurant
  • Assigned to other and/or multiple departments besides primary job code as needed
  • Work on special projects or assist with other operations of the Company as directed
  • Follow safety, sanitation and food handling policies and procedures
  • Adheres to grooming and appearance standards
