Amazon invests heavily in employee development, technology, and sustainability initiatives to maintain its status as Earth’s best employer. With operations spanning multiple countries and industries, Amazon seeks to continuously improve workplace safety standards through dedicated teams and innovative programs.
The Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) team at Amazon plays a crucial role in driving safety initiatives across global operations. Within this team, the Worldwide Ergonomics and Safety Experience (WESE) group focuses on developing, implementing, and sustaining safety programs that prioritize employee well-being and operational excellence. Amazon is currently seeking an experienced Safety Program Manager to join the WESE team. This role involves leading efforts to enhance and evolve safety programs by conducting research, analyzing data, and integrating industry best practices.
The Safety Program Manager will spearhead the creation and deployment of safety strategies that meet the specific needs of Amazon’s diverse environments. Key responsibilities include designing programs through analytical methodologies, managing project timelines and budgets, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and communicating effectively across all organizational levels. This individual will also be responsible for measuring program success using defined KPIs and driving continuous improvements to ensure Amazon’s safety initiatives remain relevant and impactful.
Ideal candidates for this role will have a strong background in safety and operations, extensive experience in program management, and the ability to cultivate collaborative relationships with stakeholders. They should demonstrate a deep understanding of safety leadership and climate maturity models, excel at interpreting complex data, and be passionate about creating safe workplaces that engage employees actively. The role requires an individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritize effectively, and communicate with clarity and influence.
Amazon offers competitive salary packages for this position, with ranges varying by location—$66,800 to $116,800 annually for Nashville, TN, and $82,700 to $129,800 annually for Bellevue, WA. Compensation packages also include sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units (RSUs), making this an attractive opportunity for safety professionals seeking impactful careers within a world-class organization. Comprehensive benefits are included, such as health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave, supporting holistic employee well-being and growth.
Joining Amazon as a Safety Program Manager means becoming part of a visionary company committed to workplace safety as a core value. This role provides a platform to make measurable contributions to employee health and safety on a large scale while developing professionally within a highly dynamic and supportive environment. Candidates can expect to work alongside talented teams dedicated to innovation and to influence safety standards that shape the future of work at Amazon and beyond.
