We are currently seeking a dedicated Safety Officer specializing in shell construction projects to join our team in Coconut Grove, FL. This role requires travel and reports directly to the General Superintendent. The Safety Officer plays an essential role in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations on shell construction sites. Responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day construction activities such as structural concrete, masonry, framing, and roofing. The Safety Officer will conduct regular inspections, hazard assessments, and enforce corrective actions needed to maintain a safe workplace.

In addition to oversight, the Safety Officer will lead safety training initiatives including orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing education specific to shell construction. Effective communication of safety rules and emergency procedures is vital. The role also involves meticulously maintaining safety logs, reports, and inspection records to ensure full documentation compliance. Verifying subcontractor adherence to safety standards and supporting regulatory inspections and audits comprise crucial components of this position.

The Safety Officer acts as a first responder in incidents or near-misses, investigating events, documenting findings, and recommending corrective measures to prevent recurrence. Working collaboratively with project managers and subcontractors, the Safety Officer fosters a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement across all job sites. Candidates should bring a minimum of three years of construction safety experience, preferably with shell construction expertise. OSHA 30 certification is mandatory, with OSHA 500/510 preferred. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards covering fall protection, scaffolding, trenching, and equipment safety is essential. Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills are required, alongside the ability to prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records. Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish are an advantage, enhancing communication on diverse job sites.
