Based in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, the Safety Manager role is a full-time management position that plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations along with company policies. The position offers a competitive compensation package between $75,000 and $85,000, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits plan including vacation, sick days, holidays, 401(k), medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability coverage. This leadership role involves continuous recruitment, training, and leadership of operator candidates, fostering a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the location.
The Safety Manager is responsible for delivering behind-the-wheel instruction, classroom training, and ensuring that all safety manuals and programs are current and effectively implemented. This includes managing documentation, coordinating training records, conducting safety meetings, drug and alcohol program oversight, injury prevention initiatives, and accident investigations using root-cause analysis. The role requires close collaboration with client and corporate personnel to address evolving training needs and safety concerns. The Safety Manager also performs road observations that evaluate operator safety and customer service, provides coaching and corrective training using Drive Cam tools, and responds to customer feedback related to service safety.
This position demands a candidate who is comfortable working outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including standing or sitting for extended periods and navigating uneven terrain. Physical capability to handle equipment and withstand busy traffic areas is required, alongside flexibility to work shifts or variable schedules as necessary. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and leadership skills to influence employee morale positively and uphold the highest safety standards within the organization.
Transdev upholds stringent drug testing and DOT compliance standards, including adherence to DOT regulation 49 CFR Part 40, prohibiting any Schedule I drugs, including cannabis. Job Duties
- Provide behind-the-wheel instruction according to corporate and client specifications

- establish relationships with client and corporate personnel to identify additional training needs and resources

- maintain employee filing system and participate in audits and inspections
- direct the location drug and alcohol program including random drug testing

- conduct road observations to evaluate operator safety and customer service
