We are currently seeking a highly skilled Safety Coordinator to join our construction management team. The Safety Coordinator role is crucial for ensuring a safe working environment on all construction sites by effectively implementing comprehensive safety programs and policies. In this position, you will conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards, provide essential training to workers and subcontractors, and ensure all activities comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations including OSHA standards. Working closely with project managers, supervisors, and site workers, you will act as a key advocate for safety and help create a culture that promotes proactive risk management and injury prevention.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction safety with a proven track record of enforcing safety protocols and conducting training sessions for diverse construction teams. They will be adept at investigating incidents and near misses to derive root causes and will maintain safety records and documentation to support regulatory compliance and company reporting. This position offers a dynamic work environment primarily on construction sites with occasional office duties for report writing and training facilitation.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in construction safety or related field
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification required
  • OSHA 510 required
  • Site Safety Training Specialist certification required
  • Competent Person Training for fall protection and excavations required
  • Ability to work in outdoor construction environments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate uneven terrain
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety goggles, and gloves
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, construction management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2-4 years of construction safety experience
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification
  • OSHA 510 certification
  • Site Safety Training Specialist (STSC) certification
  • Competent Person Training in fall protection and excavations
  • Preferred first aid, CPR, AED certification
  • Additional safety certifications such as CSP or ASP are a plus
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to conduct safety training and inspections
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement site-specific safety programs and procedures
  • Conduct daily and weekly safety inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
  • Provide safety training including orientation and toolbox talks to workers and subcontractors
  • Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents to determine root causes and prepare reports
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory safety standards
  • Monitor and manage personal protective equipment usage and distribution
  • Assist in developing and executing emergency response and evacuation plans
  • Maintain detailed records of safety activities and prepare regular reports
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging workers and addressing concerns
  • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to integrate safety into operations
