The company is known for its dedication to creating safe work environments and ensuring compliance with safety regulations while maintaining project schedules and budgets. As a leader in the industry, Walker Engineering prides itself on fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and technical expertise, which contributes to its excellent reputation among clients and partners.
The Safety Coordinator (SC) role at Walker Engineering is a critical position responsible for overseeing the safety operations on specific projects. This full-time role involves working directly with the project management team to plan, direct, and execute comprehensive safety efforts that align with the company’s standards and regulatory requirements. The SC acts as the primary safety supervisor on site, ensuring that safety protocols are implemented effectively and that all stakeholders, including subcontractors, adhere to these policies. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards, conducting safety assessments, and recommending appropriate improvements.
Safety Coordinators at Walker Engineering play an integral part in developing a culture of safety awareness and accountability. They provide training, mentorship, and communication channels that empower hourly personnel and subcontractors to work safely and efficiently. The role includes participating in safety committees, coordinating safety staffing efforts during key project phases such as shutdowns and commissioning, and managing incident investigations with meticulous attention to detail. SCs are expected to be skilled in using various safety testing equipment, completing numerous types of safety documentation, and maintaining open communication with the Regional Safety Manager and other project stakeholders.
Walker Engineering values candidates who possess a strong passion for safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. This is an opportunity for professionals with relevant safety experience and certifications to contribute to a company that prioritizes employee wellbeing and continuous safety improvements. The Safety Coordinator role demands not only technical safety knowledge but also the ability to interact professionally with clients, general contractors, and other trades involved in the project.
This position offers a dynamic and challenging work environment located at client project sites with exposure to various construction and electrical safety elements. Candidates should be physically capable of navigating construction sites, able to perform repetitive physical tasks, and comfortable working in different weather conditions and terrains. The job demands a high level of responsibility, focus, and attention to detail, as well as the ability to visualize complex spatial and geometric relationships as required for blueprint reading and safety planning.
