Job Description

UniFirst is a highly reputable international leader in the garment services industry, operating within an $18 billion market. The company employs over 16,000 team partners who serve more than 300,000 business customer locations across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Recognized for its excellence, UniFirst has earned spots on prestigious lists such as Selling Power magazine’s "Best Companies to Sell For" and Forbes magazine’s "Platinum 400 - Best Big Companies." UniFirst is committed to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and supportive workplace culture and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, ensuring fair employment practices regardless of race, color, gender, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other protected status. They offer competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and significant opportunities for career growth and development.

The role of a Route Coverage Specialist at UniFirst is a vital position integral to maintaining the high standards of customer service the company is known for. This role involves stepping in to cover delivery routes when Route Service Representatives (RSRs) are unavailable, ensuring uninterrupted service to valued customers. The position requires training on multiple delivery routes, which includes understanding customer-specific details to guarantee seamless and personalized service. This dynamic position suits individuals who are proactive, adaptable, and enjoy a fast-paced environment with varied daily tasks.

A Route Coverage Specialist is responsible for safely loading, transporting, and delivering clean garments, flat goods, and other products to customers along established routes while also collecting soiled or used garments for return. High-quality customer service is a primary focus, with Route Coverage Specialists stepping in to maintain positive customer interactions and resolve issues independently to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty. Operationally, this role demands attention to detail in managing invoices, conducting inventory audits, and maintaining the safety and upkeep of company vehicles. An emphasis on safety is crucial, requiring adherence to all traffic laws and company policies to protect themselves, customers, and the company at large.

Collaboration with the Service and Management Teams is also important, as Route Coverage Specialists assist with new account installations, help RSRs on routes, contribute to rerouting efforts, collections, and have opportunities to upsell, strengthening customer relationships. Effective communication is a key competency, sharing valuable customer feedback and market insights with leadership teams.

This position offers several freedoms such as working independently while being supported by a team dedicated to service excellence. The role provides variety with constantly changing routes and customer needs, requiring excellent time management, adaptability, and a customer-centric mindset. UniFirst supports its employees with continuous training and career development opportunities.

Overall, the Route Coverage Specialist role at UniFirst is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals to join a respected company with a meaningful impact on customer satisfaction and operational success. The emphasis on teamwork, safety, and innovation underscores UniFirst's commitment to its workforce and customers alike, making this more than just a delivery job — it's a career track within an industry-leading organization.
