The role of Rounder in the Prepared Foods Department is essential to supporting the day-to-day food production operations across all City Market locations. The position specifically focuses on helping create delicious meals aligned with daily production plans, ensuring quality, freshness, and appealing presentation. The Rounder is expected to assist with a variety of tasks including food preparation, stocking, cleaning stations, managing inventory rotation, and supporting product receiving and storage. This role requires flexibility and collaboration, as duties may vary and involve coordination with multiple departments to guarantee timely and consistent product availability. The position is non-exempt, falls under union representation (UE Local 203, Grade 5), and offers a starting wage of $19.06 per hour.

Ideal candidates for this role will exhibit a strong interest in local food systems and sustainability initiatives, a commitment to food safety, and the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization. Experience as a line cook or sous chef, along with knowledge of food labeling, handling, and preparation techniques, will be highly beneficial. Certification such as ServSafe is preferred, and a culinary education background is a plus though not mandatory.
